1 bit = a single digit number in base 2 (0 or 1)
1 byte = 8 bits
1 kilobyte = 1024 bytes
1 megabyte = 1024 kilobytes
1 gigabyte = 1024 megabytes

1 petabyte = 1024 terabytes

....and so on

But to answer the original post, each post uses bugger all data. The post text itself would only be < 1% of the total data transferred each time you view a thread. The code that is wrapped around the text for display purposes and the images make up a hell of a lot more data.

well in english not enough to worry about EVER .. 95% of the bandwidth is jpg / gif / bmp

So all the post on here account for less than 5% of 20 GB

well last night I had a thread which became quite popular 12 pages there was lots of conversation and vw chat and forum chat and for some reason it upset some folks and they had a go at me for threatening bandwidth probs etc...... the thread has now been deleted . If i did something wrong I would like to know so it doesnt happen again

I do say that the other day i was postin on duckys (none vw post) wich it was a vw chat' And i had the best chat in ages i can never get the chat room 2 work. And all we were doing was chating about was valla our lives cars ect and "haveing a laugh " i realy dont give a sh@%^ about more posts . Its just something els 2 talk about and have a joke about. Its hard 2 get 2 know people on here cos some of us live so far a way i feel this kind of chat is a good ice brake r this is my 2c worth

Andrew is there a way a group of people can have a chat over a couple of days. I fined that not every one is on at the same time but you still like to keep up with what’s going on. Ok the thread that I think has started this was a small group talking about different thing mostly VW things but its good to share with people of interest. I’m sure the people involved including myself would be happy not to have a post count on this but I think it makes the whole VW experience better.:thumb

how r we andrew well 4 some reason i cant get in 2 the chatroom. ( it comes up blank ) i dont know heps about computers. . Just would be good 2 have some were when a few of us are on we can chat about our cars and lives ect. when you click chat handy, i bet it comes up like int he pic attacked, and does nothing else. if so click on the icon i have circled and pointed to in the top left corner. this will then let you enter a user name and allow you to enter. took me a while to work it out also. used to jsut get in.
