I fitted early Bay suspension to the trailer with later hubs and my modified BA Ford wheels with 205/75x16 Dueller ATs and it travelled very smoothly even on the 170ks of corrugated dirt from Halls Creek to here.

Hey Dude, we must have passed each other at some stage??
We've just made it to Broome mostly following the coastline.
Mind you we've stuck mostly to bitumen, we're not as keen as you.
Great pics, sounds like an awsome trip, hope it all goes well.
Cheers,
Richard.

G'day,
Desert Splitty is now running all Ford/VW 16x6.5s including the trailer which has Kombi suspension under it, apart from working great it was an easy way to have some spare bits if I needed them. I only ran the 15x7 mags for the smaller diameter for towing the trailer, there now cleaned and put away.
Here's a pic of Desert Splitty's new drving light bar I fitted at the weekend, it's a Beetle front bumper towel rail and fits perfectly.

Thanks again for the comments Folks, this Splitty has been a dream of mine for many years, to build a Splitty the way I want it. I don't consider it a restoration but a rebuild and having so many dead Kombis in the Graveyard I was able to keep the body basically original but upgrade the suspension and running gear using various Bay bits and pieces, so it now is pretty much a Bay in Splitty clothing.
I am absolutely rapped in it, the way it looks, the way it performs, etc. I will continue to improve various aspects of the Splitty, in particular the position of the steering wheel, I'm looking at fitting tilt mechanism to the collumn at the moment and raising the suspension 3" to improve the offroad look.
