Fastest MKI golf in NSW??

Hi guys, I was wondering out there has claimed the title of fastest MKI golf in NSW? either track racing or 1/4mile?

iam not sure, it was fully race prepped golf.

it was pretty fast around valla if i remember correctly.

Hey Will. I think you have it on this forum, although Adam Brand had a 2 Litre... no wait, that was a Mk2... D'oh. There is a Mk1 in Canberra which is theoretically in NSW, as it is surrounded by it, which has a 2L and aftermarket injection. That thing is looking like putting out close to 100-110kw.... there is also a turbo 16V in Canberra.
Responses to water cooled stuff on this forum is a little light on, too, so dont be too surprised if you dont get much attention. Which is fine, we have Vortex, and I dont think air cooled guys have even bothered trying on there. (with the exception of Costa, who is succesfully walking the fine line between the two...{shame it has to be so, we should all be equally interested in both...})

Then of course there is Steve Carter with his wasserboxer proudly crossing the void. 🙂
I only say this cos I have read on this forum a few times that the air cooled guys would love it if watercooled guys were more involved, then when someone does get involved, they get unintentionally neglected. It is a sad fact of Australian VW life that there is a void between the two, which is a big shame. I am not having a go at anyone, cos I love you all, and love checking out both camps at shows, but it just makes me sad.... apparently. Sorry to use this thread to air my thoughts... Cheers...

That Golf at Nambucca is owned by a guy who lives in Germany, named Anthony Healy, he left it with the mUllers for safe keeping. It is the ex Chris Heyer Bathurst car, the one that caught fire.

Speakin about water V air, I just like cars full stop, I prefer to own a VW.

Speaking to overseas VW people we are a bit strange, we actually talk to each other and have both air % water cooled cars at our shows.

Yeah, I have heard that about other scenes... We can show an interest, though... I guess it doesnt help when the majority of watercooled buyers these days have no interest in clubs, or even their car past its percieved status....

Will, the 2L is in Canberra currently getting regoed, and it belongs to a friend of mine, Tim, who will be coming to wakefield next time, I think. It will be fairly rapid, although ours have good suspension. His is a boat!!! and SUV boat!!!!

The turbo 16V is a dog of a car, and would be almost undrivable anywhere but the track. It is too low, and I think the suspension was installed without any thought to handling... or at least ride... There are stories of it being blardy quick around town, though...
