Will warp only if you dont know what you are doing. It would be like getting a fence painter with a brush to paint your car - wrong way of doing the job.
Plastic/ media blasting wont warp the panels. Yeah cost is about $1000-1200. I get all cars I do resto's on bead blasted. The owners pay, and get the best results.
Individual panels are about $80 each to get done.

Must be lucky up here in Brissy - I only paid $650 for a bare shell including all guards, doors etc which included etch priming. My mate had his oval done at another place and paid around $600 roughly. Must have been a good deal apparently!!
But yes, make sure you reinforce the importance of maintaining warp free panels - mine came out worse than my mate's oval. Both were sandblasted (would have got plastic/media done if we had access to that service).

Yeah its bloody expensive paying to the labour is the killer.
