....now this is how good POR15 is, the booklet that came with the paint was sitting around and my old man came over and read it.
now I came home from work this arvo and the trailers been striped and painted with 2 coats :jesus
...look I knew por15 was good but this is bloody amazing.

I have sprayed the underside of my kombi in it and it is brilliant, you can hit it with a hammer and it wont chip.
Cheers

I tried their glisten PC clear coat on my aluminium intake and heads. It has peeled off in a couple of places, but if mostly still there.
I also tried their exhaust paint, it died in no time. And it never properly set, so things like WD40 would wash it off.

I must be doing something wrong !? my POR15 looks great.............but it chips and peels.......................what am I doing wrong????
Grock ·
How well did you prep it? How did you apply it?
Grock ·
Gee, it aint cheep either: $200 for 4 litres! I guess its worth it in the long run... if it does what its sposed to.
Baja Wes ·
for the products I use, I followed the POR instructions. Haven't tried POR15 though.

I've used POR15, Glisten PC and the Exhaust paint. Here is my experience with them.
POR 15 - Great for chassis and floorpans. I used it on welded panels on the body prior to etch priming. It had a reaction in some places with the etch primer (crazing) which gave me the sh*ts.
Glisten PC - used for intake manifolds and aluminium dash. If you are using a brush make sure it is super clean.
Exhaust Pain - I agree with Wes. Does not harden to a point where you are confident it will stay on.
Generally good products.

wire brushed back to bare metal, water soluble degreaser, and then applied with a brush............2 coats about 4-5 hours apart.
HotRodMatt ·
It doesn't like degreaser.....
Unfortunately only their product makes it work exactly right....
After a sandblast give it an air clean and that'll give the best result.

'Rust Bullet' is the 'new' POR coming out of the hot rod
scene in the States. I bought some and used it on floors
(top and bottom) on Leo the 62 twin cab. Seems to dry rock hard like POR
but the BIG advantage is that is seems FAR less finicky in regards
to surface preparation requred for adhesion. Also doesn't degrade
with UV exposure.
No agents here yet. I bought 4 litres (in 1 litre pots) directly
from the on-line order site and cost was just under $200 landed fater a 3-4 month wait for surface mail.
