i would just like to say a quick thank you to a few people who helped me get my car back to sydney in one peice.
Once again, Jason (type_one) was there to help save the day, along with chris (in the weeds) and craig (wrecker 67)
also a big thanks to wes (twoguns) for the help with the fuel pump
and one more quick thanks to steve (purplet3) josh (ladybeetle), the dude with the 13b bay kombi, the guys in the Volksbahn convoy for all their advice, offer of tools and any help they could give.
without all these ppl my car wouldn't have made it home, so i do appreciate it, and thanks heaps! cheers

type3kid ·

Jay_1965vw ·

Hmm... did we drive past you on the side of the road...?

We passed one big bunch of breakdown - figured there were enough vws there to deal with whatever the problem was 🙂 We did stop for a lonesome kombi earlier though.

twoguns ·

i had some! :duh and i know you are. he looked good, following you back to taree.

type3kid ·

hey jay, not sure if you passed me. jason said you stopped for him. my break down was at the service centre at port mac. i know all the volksbahn convoy stopped there as they offered to help

wes- i had oil too! i would have loved a pic of nev and the t34 cruisin down the freeway

wrecker67 ·

its was great to see so many willing to help

type3kid ·

yeah i can say that there was heaps offering to help...they made a lot of offers to me!

Yes I am the fool without the engine seal. No time we only got the gearbox, motor and fuel tank back in days before Valla. No time for shoppinf for luxuries. At one stage I wondered if i was going with the gearbox sitting on the garage floor days before. A big thanks to Wrecker67 (Craig) and In the Weed (Chris) and I think Aaron helped at one point too, getting it all back in. Still the car was running cool so I wasn't too concerned. Will get one for summer though.

The only reason she overheated was we sat at a road block after fixing Aarons car. AGAIN.:thumb
That thing had a near full resto at and around Valla I think. My apologies to twoguns for not being more of a help with the fuel pump. I had already ruined a good shirt and didn't want to get changed. I was tired hungry and there were wolves after me. (simpsons humour) You had it under control though and we all learnt that a fuel pump sometimes hook up in reverse to what you took off.

Thanks to all who stopped when we had the vapour lock. Might just stop next time to meet people. Always amazes me how helpful VW people are. We are certainly creatures not from this world.

twoguns ·

hey sorry mate. was wondering how you were doing back htere. kept looking to be sure you were in my mirrors. but i exited not long after that road worx.

type3kid ·

all in all it was a great time and we all got home fine and dandy!
