Keith Haeusler ·
Hi Jak,
Count me in. 70 bug with 2387cc. Thanks, Keith.
vw54 ·
Jak pretty sure i will be there and possible bring Boris DRAG car along if i can get trailer n driver
Che Castro ·
yeah i'll be there
63' 1600 SP
XXX-1.8T ·
I should be there
Audi A3 1.8 Turbo
how much is it?:bounce
jakriz ·
U should have told me u were going to be up this way Barry, I'm only 15 minutes away from where u were staying.
Keith, the 2387 sounds like a ball tearer!! can't wait to see it run!
Dave, it would be awesome to see Boris's car on the Dyno, Richard has told me some pretty awesome stories regarding that car.
Will be good to have u there Jon.
XXX1.8t, (sorry don't know your name) it's $50 & if we have over 20 cars it's $45, it would be really interesting to see the what the Audi could put out.
regards
Jak
London Bugger ·
Cool I would love to take part in a Dyno day, no one does them over here tho, maybe something to look into!
Jak what type or car and what are the specs of Joes 2800cc it sounds monsterous!!
Rob.
The_Bronze. ·
It would be interesting to put the Dog-O-War on one and see what I lose from a 1300tp with big 31 inch tires rolling behind. :o
jakriz ·
The 2800cc is a type 4 motor built by Richard Holzl at V-Force. It sounds like a V8 just idleing!!!

Jak
Is this a street driven car???
Sounds very interesting are there any pics anywhere?
Rob.
Keith Haeusler ·
Jak,
Only running some small 40 x 36 valve small port heads, with a mild cam. trying to make a torquey street engine. 86 x 94, short rods etc. well see on the dyno day. cheers, keith.
XXX-1.8T ·
Sounds good.
Oettinger claim 143kw with the chip,
10kw with turbo back exhaust, and maybe couple more kw's with the cold air intake hopefully i get 155kw - 158kw as they claim
that 2800 sounds like a monster is it a VW engine?
BTW im Costa :thumb😎🙂😀

jakriz ·
Keith, u don't want to lend me that motor to scare some Porsches this year do u? they wouldn't know what hit them if I turned up with that in the back of my beetle. Makes my 1880cc look pretty whimpy! LOL! Did have to take any meat out of the cam to get the 86mm crank in? I've heard that someties it's necessary.
Costa, it will be interesting to compare your modern machinery against our little lawnmower engines, & yes the type4 2.8l is in a street car, u will see it on the day, nice car, 4 wheel disks, aero guards, 16 inch wheels etc etc.
Apparently nothing on the street has come near it yet!
Jak
Hutcho ·
Count me in Jak, What car should I take? Ive got a 97 VR6 or the ball tearin' 1500sp 69 Kombi.
Hutcho.
reub ·
I love to be there but dring down from Darwin is a little far. would be interested to see how the ej20t would go.
Grey 57 ·
Have a great dyno day guys.
Che, take it easy with that 1600 SP. Use half throttle and give the others a chance mate.😀😀
jakriz ·
Bring the VR6 Hutcho, I think that Seb mentioned that he may bring his as well so u could have a comparison.
regards
Jak
Che Castro ·
lol grey 57, i'll only go half throttle because i cant afford to buy them a new dyno 😀
yeah joe's 2.8L type 4 is originally an engine richard built for his tube frame & beetle bodied circuit racer. Estimated 200+ HP at the flywheel. It breaks traction going uphill up to 3rd gear. It'll break traction when u floor it at about 2000RPM on the highway.
joe had to make some induction plumbing because the induction noise from his dells made it sound like a harley!
to put it short
.. its a beast.
London Bugger ·
Damn this wet miserable country, I wanna go to a sunny Dyno day 🙁
Someone pay for me to visit :thumb
Rob.
XXX-1.8T ·
That 2800 sound like an animal!
hopefully i get around 110kw-120kw at the flywheel.
As for my modern machinery I like the old engines as they are much less complicated. With my engine there is too much electronics involved where if a sensor is dirty or not plugged in properly the car wont run at full boost etc, etc.
Should be a good day hopefully someone takes some pics of all these hot dubs and my Audi😎
jakriz ·
Yeh I'll bring my digital camera & post everyones results & pics here on the forum.
Jak

That will be good 🙂 So i can pretend i am there lol
Che Castro ·
should be a fun day! nice to see everyone in person too!
I quite like modern h20 german cars like audis and golfs, so much nicer than hondas with 19" chrome wheels and spoilers 😀
Secoh ·
I dont think the wasser will be in in time for it 🙁 probably a bit rude to take my statesman to a VW day 😉
jakriz ·
Yeh Jon. the little pic of Costas Audi that I can see looks very cool!
Jak
XXX-1.8T ·
Thanx guys im touched :kiss
if u want i got more pics😎
I cant get enough of pics of aircooled dubs:bounce
Bug_racer ·
I should have the Golf Ready with Oettinger cams and the chip . It last made 85 KW at the wheels . It should make an easy 100kw this time . I'm negotiating with forced induction on the VR6 , hoping to have it ready by the nationals for my G/F to race . Maybe low 8's if I'm lucky . Anyway , the beetle is going slowly and wont be ready till late Feb at the earliest .
I'll be happy with a 9 flat out of that motor (if I can get it down there this year )
:puke
Hutcho ·
Well, Bug_racer, your VR6 will certainly show a higher read-out than my stocker. I guess it'll be good for you to compare the two cars to see what gains youve made though. What kind/type/brand of forced induction are you looking at? I contacted a mob over in the US a few months ago about one of thier super charger kits but at $12thou sent here and fitted, I just wouldnt be able to slide that passed the boss...yet.
Hutcho
Bug_racer ·
If your interested I'm most probably going to sell all the Hipo gear I've got to make way for a turbo . I've thought about Supercharging but your very restricted to boost and there is a real limitation power wise . The kits cost $4000 US and only give 250 hp at the flywheel . Turbo kit for the same price gives 300 HP . I found a guy selling a kit second for $3500 , comes with everything but the turbo making 625 hp . The Turbo will set me back about $2000 Aus for a reco one here . So the stuff ain't cheap . But when was the last time anyone saw a Golf pull a 12 second pass at the drags ?
jakriz ·
Well guys we are on for 9:00am Saturday morning the 1st of Febuary at SAS.
Its on the corner of Fariola Street & Silverwater road, opposite Cadilac plastics.
Hope to see all of u then.

Just a quick question what is Kw?
How many Kw to BHP??
I only know BHP figures.
Rob.
lugnuts ·
1hp=0.7457kw 1kw=1.341022hp and im hoping to make at least 20kw of ball tearing ground shaking power when i put the 1300sp on the dyno,i hope they have a good ventilation system there, bit of smoke blowing from the peashooters.
Quickbug ·
Guys my crank split fair in two and one head somehow has a hole in it.
Most probably from using incorrect fuel but usuing a higher RON fuel was something my mehcanic neglegted to tell me.... 😠
At anyrate im looking at a couple more weeks before he can lay his hands on a new billet crank and rebuild the motor.
So im not going to make it....
Im really really really REALLY p'o'd!!
I had the engine only 3 weeks - a week of which it wasnt driven due to my mechanic not tightening the bolts on the alternator shroud or the alternator strap which equated to the alternator coming loose and spining around to take out the fan and stuff the generator itself..... 😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠

ok good news first,,,
my bro is getting married on the 2nd of feb! i'm a groomsman, and i'm pleased to see he's happy.... :kiss
now for the bad news...
he just told me that we have a rehearsal for the wedding ceremony (i'm greek so it's like a bloody theatrical production!) and then we're off to organise the reception and wheatever.
so... *tear* i won't be able to make it to the dyno day... unless i finish early... but we shall see.
Sorry about the stuff up guys, i thought i'd be safe for the day b4 the weddin' but obviously not :jesus
You'll have a great day anyways! i wanna photos and dyno reports! 🙂
XXX-1.8T ·
I know the production Yianni My Big Fat Greek Wedding II 😉
Golde60 ·
looking forward to seeing some results.
i just read the vwtrends dyno test article, and am a bit sceptical about those yanks.
looking forward to seeing some honest australia results, of cars that can actually be driven comfortably.
any t4s other than the 2800 ball tearer?
oooo what about a comparison between a 1916 and a 1943 just to dispell some of the latest arguments that have surfaced lately...
... hehe just stirring the pot:kiss
Che Castro ·
yeah Richard is taking along the 2.4L Berg type 1 EFI Turbo bug, estimated at 300 hp or so... watch out!
Hey costa I saw u on george st in ur Audi last night 26/1 at about 11pm. nice car
XXX-1.8T ·
did u, where were u?
was i driving carefully or hitting it?
:party
fullnoise ·
I'll drag the oval along to make up for the no-shows. I'd be happy to get close to 100hp at the wheels. My guess is about 85.
CYA, CT:sandrine:cussing
Che Castro ·
i saw u around circular quay, just saw u for a brief moment and recognised ur plate.
fullnoise ·
Who me?
That probably would've been going over circular quay on the expressway. My car is almost a regular fixture on the bridge.
My oval has been in daily service, earning it's keep, for the last couple of months. The engine seems to love being driven alot. The paint doesn't like it as it's living outside. I've given up counting the stone chips.
CYA, CT
amazer ·
I'm pretty sure I'll be there as spectator. Will take the kombi up. Dont know if I'd want to dyno it even if there is room. The noise of cars on dynos is very scarey to me. Sounds much less severe from inside on the highway.
silver ·
I hope to come along as well, after i take care of a couple of little jobs i wonder what the 1916 in the split will do? what about the reduction hubs will they give false readings mmmm very interesting
Che Castro ·
the reduction hubs will just give you more tractive effort, and a slower speed. Same HP (unless you count extra friction).
I saw costa the other night, sorry CT 😀
XXX-1.8T ·
Does anyone know what dyno it is cos if its a dynamic dyno the figures are less flaterring than others
But its all good as we all are going to be on the same dyno 🙂
XXX-1.8T ·
does anyone know what the weather is going to be like 2morrow as i was told theres no use putting the car on at a temp higher than 28 degrees
amazer ·
Just do it man. It will all be relative. everyones car will be in the same temp.
There are ways of calculating the horspeower with conversion factors for temp and humidity. I dont know what they are but they're out there.
Im definitely coming up for the look now. Is this a grog day? bring the esky? BBQ somewhere?
Bizarre ·
It is a Silverwater....... i work just up the road.............lets just say the "scenery" isnt exactly ......... ahh...."nice"
There is a pub around the corner on Parrmatta Road called the Wentworth. It does have one of the best beer gardens around.
How about we congregate there after the fact and discuss the affair over a few "sherberts"
Either that of we fill your bus full of ice and chuck a few slabs in!
:beer:bounce:beer:bounce:beer:bounce:beer:bounce
amazer ·
hmm wonders what kind of "scenery" that is. No bikinis on silverwater beach? LOL. I got no idea where it is. Will look it up on a map before I go.
They got food there? I could bring a BBQ. I wont be cooking for everyone though. BYO cookyourown.
The beer is not for myself. I dont drink. Just the devil inside me doesnt mind a few.
Bizarre ·
It is about 2km north of Auburn Mosque.
The food at Auburn is GREAT!.......just not the "scenery".
Good take away / pizza / laska etc etc. Would have to be the multi cutural centre of the world.
Counter meals at the Wentworth are excellent as well
speedster356 ·
Can't wait...but it looks like the Speedster will still be at Boris's workshop on Saturday...bugger. So to keep the numbers up I'll just bring the Spyder and an other German watercooled V6....same group of companies though.
