Not enough drive throughs, Melbourne has them so why cant we have a drive through Surfers, this weekend would be good eh, Indy week, should be able to drive round the track, if that Irish guy can run on wearing a kilt and jimmy wig so can we!!

BP Yatala is on your left hand side (coming from Brissy) take same turn off as you would if your going to Yatala Pies shop.
I think its Highway exit 38 & the Drive in is on Jabobs Well Rd.

a good night was had by myself and the missus. took the beetle not the kombi. only a light sprinkle of rain and a bit of confusion over the correct speakers for which movie field we parked in. Have not been to the drive-in for over 10 yrs was good to see a big turn out of cars so that hopefuuly the drive-in will survive. should make a regular feature over the warmer months as it is a good venue for getting together before the show and meeting other dubbers and have a nice night out (+plus get to enjoy a yatala pie mmmmmmhhhh pie...........)

Thats the following Saturday night as Peter the Manager is promoting a custom car Drive in Night for the first Saturday of each Month,
We have made this a regular event for Klub VW GoldCoast,
This is what We wrote in the Events Calender

"""4 December 2004 Drive in night{First Saturday of each month}

After the sucess of our last couple drive in nights and the obvious Chomping at the bit for a Return of the regular Drive in theatre event,
We have decided to hold this as a monthly event,
Yatala Drive in is the venue which is exit 38 on the Pacific Highway {the same exit as Yatala Pies}
If we take the back rows of either screen {Its a twin screen theatre} we can still hang out reguardless of which field we choose to watch.
"But please be respectful of other drive in movie goers and refrain from disrupting their enjoyment by being loud etc."

Originally we penciled in the 27 of November but decided to make the regular repeat of the event coincide with a much bigger custom car drive in night held on the 1st Saturday of each month, This way we are surrounded by more like minded car enthusiasts rather than being a minority group of car people :party"""""

Thats the reason I chose the 27th, I wanted it to be a VW thing. Im not against other makes, I had two hot rods once myself. I just like the group we have, and it's quite low key. Im not a big group person and I dislike crowds. I think that you would still get the PPL in that want to be a part of the combined makes group however close the dates are.
One of the things that turned me off the hot rod street machine scene was the behaviour of the street machine nationals that used to be held in Canberra, I have never seen more childish irrisponsible behavior, than I witnessed at that event, I lost all respect for that scene and lost interest. PPL used to look on the motorcycle fraternity with disgust everytime the bathurst races were on but I can say from experiance that the car mob beat the bikers hands down in this respect!
So its the 27th for me!

If we left NSW time 5pm, we would be up at the Qld border at Tweed at 5pm. Cruise to Yatala Pies around 5.30ish then meet at the BPabout 6pm.

hey you are lucky every time i put even shopping in my front boot it always loosens up my wiring even with the carpet on ,,,,,,,,so now all fixed when i go to the footy,,,,,,,,, AFL.... i have my bonnet up and a few pillows in there and esky and thats me for the game. great for when its rains to ,,, but a pain if the bonnet ever closed id be up the creek,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,colleen

When I was 18 I had a friend that had a 55 chev, we could get 6 PPL in the boot of that ol girl. but sometimes they used to have boot checks, bit embarresing getting busted! never stopped us from trying though. be lucky to get one in the front of ol Pige!

i use to have friends that lived next to the cannon hill drive in so we had a hole cut under the fence so we sneaked in got busted that many times they gave up friends even went on the roof of there house a few times but great view but no sound

Similar thing with me. Warriewood in sydney had a paddock behind it, me and me mates used to sneak in there and watch from the fence, you could hear the sound from the cafe. Little did we know the owner of the land decided to adjist horse's there. We snuck in one night and sat at our usual spot, ten minute's later we were running for our live's from an angry horse!

Hi Roy,
Doesn't matter weather you have a radio or not.
If you have a car radio...you just tune in the station.
If you don't, you park at the poles that have the speakers you rest on your windows.
We generally park in the middle of the drive in near the canteen, so then you can watch either screens (& don't have to move too far) & have a chose to use speakers or your car radio.

Me and Nita had a great time, first ever drive in, we didnt have them in the UK as the windscreen would have iced over and the rain may have obscured the view a bit.
But bloody good, enjoyed it, certainly go again.

Congrats on another great night. the pies were delicious hhhhmmmm...... pies. Will have to organise a better time to meet so we can arrive in convoy next time. Lol! Eirecooled the Kombi is called Bert, the owner is James, and hopefully we will bring the Karmann beetle next time. It goes for a roadworthy this Thursday and hopefully registered within a couple of days. Then it depends on interior being done. If interior not done we can only being if not raining as the roof is ventilated :thumb Pam

There was someone from another chapter that had a couple before our's. It was stated that we took over their idea, of being a regular monthly thing. I don't want to be a part of that, so Ill just remove myself from it. If they set a date that fit's in with me Ill go, but if it dosent and some other PPL want to come with me when I can make it, there's nothing I can do about that. We are all free to choose what we want to do.
