Received my free split screen today and the compliance plate lists it as a 'VOLKSWAGENWERK AG'
anyone can give me some more info on this or lead me to a site that explains
would be very much appreciated

sounds like an early one? maybe an import? tell us more!

They all state that.
You need to find the chassis number, this is on the same plate.
Or stamped on the area just below where the plate is if you cant read it on the plate.
Find it , post it and I will tell you what year it is,
Cheers

In the tech talk forum I have been informed it is actually a 66 model
the compliance plate says made in Germany
plenty of rust and it has 3 seats at the back
no idea if it was made for more or wether the side windows are original
how to determine wether it is actually a bus or van ?
Desert Bug ·
In the engine bay, left hand side under fuel tank area, the chassis # should be stamped and underneath another # with MB in front for Microbus or PV for Panel van.
The first two digits of the chassis # also tell you what came out of the factory as, ie: 23 is Microbus, the third digit is the year. This system applies from about '63.
