Look what I found...

Baja Wes ·

Look what I found sleeping in between the front tyre and the front fender (a small space) on my motorbike!

Andy42 ·

So what is the big stick for ya big bully

Baja Wes ·

it's actually a PVC pipe with a rope loop in it. We use it to catch the snake, then we stick it in an esky.

Then we drive it up the road to the state forest and let it go there. :thumb

56astro ·

I was doing a site inspection on Tuesday and had a close encounter with a red belly black snake.

I was remarkably calm ....... NOT!!

Baja Wes ·

we get on average 10 snakes a year around the house, so we're used to it.

either we catch and relocate them, or the dog's find them first and play tug-o-war with them. :puke

56astro ·

Are they ever nasty / agro?

pod ·

good on yah for catching them and releasing them, most people would hit them with a spade or something😉

Baja Wes ·

yeah, some are a little aggressive. if they stand up with their neck in an S-bend shape you know they will be trouble.

The carpet snakes are fine. They are a very calm snake.

My dog is so fast and efficient. She's made it to 11 with no bites yet. But I prefer to save the snake if possible.

Starbug ·

wow!! how big was it?
its a stupid place to have a nap!! did u start your bike and it slithered out or something?
id be a bit freaked out :duh
my next door neighbours cat killed a green tree snake last week and left it decapitated just next to my washing basket, was not impressed. pretty much why i dont like cats.

zac_smits ·

how did you find it?

oh, i think i'll just have a look to see if anything is asleep between my front tyre and fender..no, oh wait..just another snake lol...

When I lived in Darwin we had the same sort of problems, I still remeber my ridgeback bringing a 4ft carpet snake in the house. The wife went off her head, luckily the Ridgy and my Pitbull played tug of war prior to bringing it in the house.

I still remember my wife screamin get that F#*king thing out of here.lol.

boersch ·

.....nice bike.....

Baja Wes ·

that carpet snake is a relatively small one.

Luckily my dog found it and started barking at the bike before I found it by accident.

whaaat!? you supposed to poke it with a stick and piss it off and then pick it up with your bare hands and take it for a walk to somewhere else. At least that's what my Dad does...:duh

carpet snakes are tame, the biggest one I've seen was in Cornubia/Loganholme and it rivaled an anaconda. I'm serious it would've nearly been the thickness of my leg, just kept going and going and going-really really long. Why do we live here in Oz, when we have like 9/10 of the worlds most deadly snakes and the animal able to kill humans the fastest in 3-4min (Box jellyfish)???? why?

Esky's are for Beer Wes, not snakes.:beer

what if you wanted to get a beer out and the snake was in there? Although it would stop people from flogging it.

I say go the spade ....... haven't you guys seen what the big snake tries to do to Harry Potter ??????????

Grock ·

What a good idea with the pipe and rope... My parents had a resident 2m python which used to squeeze between the tin roof and the frame of the verandah. It was great, kept the mice and rats away too i would say. Then it left a skin and took off.. apparently they are terratorial but it didn;t come back this year...

Baja Wes ·

they are good to have around (carpet snakes), but it had to be relocated for it's own safety. They are no match for a dog.

helterskelter400 ·

look what i found under my front guard.

lucky it ponged otherwise i might have tried to ride away.
:P:P:P

ps. snakes are out over here to. last weekend saw two big dugites and one tiger catching some rays on the sand track whilst testing the bugeye. its better meeting them on 4 wheels than when hooking round a sandy corner with a leg out on the dirtbike...

You shouldn't hit them with a shovel - your likely to crack a tile. And don't use a golf club because you'll miss the snake and break a light or hit it and break a window, or both.'

We had a snake in the pool filter box this morning apparently. My wife spotted it after it (snake) had been for a swim. Don't blame it ....it was hot outside today apparently !

Adam_C ·

Helterskelter..... what the f*%k is that?!?!?!?!

helterskelter400 ·

is/was a whale. was a bit smelly so much so that even the howling ocean breeze wouldnt get rid of it. it had putrid juices flowing out of it and the like...:puke

Starbug ·

I dont understand why people feel the need to kill snakes/spiders/sharks whatever...
its their territory we have encroached on, they live with us so we should live with them.

alot of ppl end up killing legless lizards and thats when i start to get really tetchy:cussing:cussing:cussing

steve may be a wanker but at least hes good for conservation and animal preservation

VDUBXTC ·

Last summer i had a run in with a Brown snake.
I was ridding along the back of the san dunes at stockton beach and come around a corner and there it was laying accross the track i didn't have enough room to go around it and i was going to quick to stop, but stupid me keeped going straight at it while easing off on the power.
The bloody thing stood up on end and struck at me going past. He got my boot which still wears the fang marks from the snake getting its fangs stuck in my boot and then whipping under the back wheel of the bike ripping the snake and its fangs out of my boot.

Now i have no dramas with any type of pythons and other breeds of snakes, as i know most of them will get out of your way if you give them a bit of room.
But browns are dead as soon as i come across one now.

baby_beetle ·

lol

helterskelter400 ·

off the main topic but..

2004 must be the year of the whale.

we found the one above in may on a deserted beach and on the weekend, found another bigger & smellier one.
