I took the bug down to Wollongong on Sunday to a steet machine show and had a great day many thanks to the Wollongong steet Machiners for putting on a great day and for giving me the trophy for the organizers choice. But as for showing my age , when I was a Teenager in the bad old 70s a steet machine was a US made tank with a jacked up rear and the fatest tyres that you could fit under it or if your financers were limited you had a Manaro or Falcon done much the same but now the tipical streeter is a Asian car with the BIGGEST THUMPINGEST DOOF DOOFIEST stereo with every last spot in the cabin full of speakers . oh my god I long for the good old days . but on the up side one thing is still the same and that is the build quality of the cars .

Doof Doof mobiles should be banded. Most of these guys spend thosands on the crap and forget about the rest of there ride.
I f you get a chance check out the shoalhaven street machine show in April? in Nowra NSW, well worth a look and you always get a thew VW's.

i agree billet.
bring back the monaros and chargers and mercuries and other such enourmous cars! with no sound system! just a hole where the tape deck might have been. and ashtrays! none of these modern cars have a decent ashtray! ashtrays are serious performance modification, these new age kids should realise it. bring back the 660hp straight 6 xb station wagon run by fogarty now that was a legend!

yer nothing like the big old V8's but i disagree i have a stereo in the kombi purely not for that fact to show off and drive around with it blaring so the whole world can listen but purely cause i like to listen to music in good quality so u can hear the bass and here all the treble not just a shitty sound out of a $100 pair of sony speakers!!!

I 100% agree with this as it was almost my words exactly when I took my son and his mates to Autosalon in Brisbane a few months back. Although I wasn't in Oz in the 70's Iwas into the custom cars scene in the UK and always entered my beetle, I even belonged to the Tri-Chevy club as a few mates had those!

Rhys.... dont mind a good stereo either... but when its in a little jap car with stickers ans a glass kit that looks fucking terrible and all they wanna do is stand next to it and turn it up..... which is all i see down in wollongong.... then that makes everyone sick haha
but your right.... its nice to have a good stereo... i was building up quite a nice one till it was stolem..... as well

i must admit... i like a good stero as well. so does my sister...i put 250w pioneers and a new amp and cd-player/tuner into her car as a bday present... she was very impressed..
i'm yet to do the golf and the type three but it will be done when i get home!

no it's not your age, i agree with everything said. Even though i'm addicted to dubs and all i've still got on my "to get" list a Valiant of some sort (Mustangs are too expensive now) whether Charger or what and sort out those ricers. Yeah!
