Brad ·

how much for the 71 ??

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

$5700 and $6500.
Like the new banners by the way Brad, should ruffle a few feathers the "built to be abused" bit. hehe

Roukis ·

How about a swap with my Peache/White 54 Oval with low hours "ex army 1600 single port motor" plus make up th diff with cash or may be a straight swap if I fall in love with it. Gotta be interested.

here is a before shot it was pretty good

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

yep thats it, cleaned up well and a bit of dosh spent.
Thanks for the bus in the first place it served me pretty well.
Some nice history with it.
1974 copy of Club International under the seat, which will be sold with it (meant to be)
1980 newspaper under the back seat
part of a letter to the garage about service must have been around 1990
etc.
Cheers

I will be the happy new owner of the microbus above, one of david's old ones.

Never imagined that I could be so lucky to end up with the car I saw here on the forum some time ago.

Thanks to ClassicVW(pacific) and david.

There you go Bungawatta, all road worthied today, all the bits done as promised.

I hope you take good care of it, a lot of love and talk to it plenty.
It is a good bus one of few 71 delux's that I have seen.

David do you know any of the history I was going to ring the Garage in Albury who last serviced it, just to find out a little

david ·

i got it off a guy who's dad had it here in albury for a long time according to him, he took the newly recoed motor out of it and put it in the camper i now have the old man died and they both sat on the front lawn with long grass all around ,i spied them and bought them (as i do) kept them in my shed for a few years ,the camper is still in my back garden of my hostel as staff accommodation it is a good bus i hope you enjoy it

my old gal has a new owner in Brissie, if you see her give her a toot!! I was sorry to see her go, but good luck with her mate, look after it please. Remember talk to her plenty.

57kombi ·

I used to talk to my bay in England, I remember coming home from Run To The Sun shouting "'please dont break down" for about 4 hours.

Cheers
Dave

Did further cleaning up. It shed a lot of dust & dirt under the rubber floor mats.

Radio came back on after changing a fuse for it. But in a couple of minutes, it died and never came back on. (T_T)

Found a secred locker behind the passenger's seat containing one rusty original key that works the best.

It will soon have brighter headlights, new weatherstrips and seals, and opening 1/4 vent windows on front doors.

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

what about the 1974 copy of Club International, that has to stay with it. It shows no more flesh than the daily paper funny how times have changed!!!

Bungawatta ·

The magazine is preserved in a different place from further deterioration. 🙂
