https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/30290/58-split-sell-or-not

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

I am tempted to sell my baby if the right offer came along, but I know I will regret it. If man hours were calculated it would be worth a million bucks

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

inside

robnjo ·

sell??.......so its not realy in your blood Roy:duh

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

these buses are a one off, they bring joy and laughter to the driver (eh Dave)

Robo ·

Shit Roy dont do it! these things come along once in a lifetime (unless your a millionaire) Just imagine waking up and going out to the shed and it not being there! you will regret it! I hope I am convincing you, I made the same mistake once, Ill never do it again, Id rather sell my kidneys and one of my eyes first!
Rob...😎

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

Rob............tell me at the end of yours, that you dont want to do another!!!
trouble is I have a 65 delux as well, half finished. do I shut the door on that for a while and enjoy this or what. Decisions???

Andy

Robo ·

I think selling parts of my body instead of selling my car, says it all for ya! Enjoy the bus now finish the other later, its not going anywhere!
Rob...😎

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

Andy read your bloody E-mails,
they didnt steal the hubcap off this old beast, if they had I would have knocked on every door in the street.
Sought of thing that would happen in Boston, they would nick yer hubcaps then set fire to yer bus haha

VolksFolks ·

you are not wrong, in boston they nick anything, then take it to skeggy haha, sorry roy had no mails roy, not heard a thing bud, anyway i will call you thursday/friday to talk, no rush bud

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

Robo that is heart felt, but I cant let it stand.
If I sell my bays maybe then I will see it differently.
But on the other hand I would love to restore my bay to the standard of Soulsurfers.
If only money grew on trees eh!!

Robo ·

Bays are great, I have one myself, but they will never have the same feeling as a split, especially one as nice as yours! buses like that are few and far between. Keep her man, it's a big drawcard for your business!
Rob...😎

robnjo ·

that last shot roy .....we must like the same location, I grew up in burleigh
......hmmm those were the days:party

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

love the location but wouldn't surf it. Too many horror localist stories.
nice to sit and watch though

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

bugboymatt ·

Have a bay but would love a split. one day i just might.......

bugboymatt ·

Very nice by the way 🙂

62deluxe ·

I'd love to have that bus in my shed. I'd give my left nut..........
Hey Roy wanna swap for a left nut, never know when you'll need a spare..........
That would be my dream bus, but a bit out of my price range i'm afraid.....🙁

VWFREAK ·

Keep it, or sell it to me for a slab.lol.

Sweet ride, I wouldn't part with it.

Julie-Anne ·

you're mad if you sell that

its beautiful

you will spew if you don't have it anymore.....we will never sell our split.

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

nuts, right arms, eyes, what am I a bloody surgeon or something, what will I do with all these body parts.
Pickled body parts on my shelf or the split in my garage, mmmmmm, tough choice!!!

matara ·

Roy if you are going to sell it then factor in those man hours, because thats what your up for if you want another one to this standard.

There is a black market for these things !!! might get ya more than you think !!!!!!!!!!!! 😉

57kombi ·

Dont do it.
I have just got some quotes for insurance on mine.
I have spent over $15K cash and that doesnt include my time 3 and a half years and I did everything myself including all body work and paint.
It would have to be insured for $30K.As it would cost that and a bit more for someone else to build one.
Nobody in Australia will pay that sort of money so it will end up overseas if I sold it.
So dont do it , keep it here, when will you be able to build another once ClassisVW(Pacific) takes off. Also it is a good advertisement for the business

Suppose the poms would appreciate it though

Cheers
Dave

62deluxe ·

but it's a good nut.............
How about the right one too?

Starbug ·

if you sell it you will spend your nights sleepless in hope that the person you sold it to is taking as good care of it as you do.

but if you keep it, its a buzz for the business, you can spend time on doing up another and you will be able to sleep at night because you know how well taken care of it is🙂

i think the general consensus between all us dubbers is that you should keep it🙂

57kombi ·

Sorry ive had a re-think.
Sell it , theres plenty around and you do have the deluxe.
Get rid of the bays there shit
And when you have the time it will give you something to do.
If you sell it ,it will give you a BIG cash injection for the deluxe.
Sell it to someone in England or Japan as they are the only ones willing to pay its real value.
People in Australia want a restored bus for $5 -$10k.
Dreamers.
They are getting $25 K for buses that need restos in England.

Cheers
Dave

koolkarmakombi ·

I have a cheque for 100k from a nigerian prince, if you send me the bus and change i can sign it over to you with a processing fee for your inconvenience...... JOKING

sweet bus man, could you really really truly sell it?

kkk

57kombi ·

If you dont sell it ,
What is your front seat like, mines a bit worn, so if you dont sell it how about parting it out?
Ill give you a tenner for the front seat,
You could get more for it in parts than you would for the whole thing.
How about part exchanging it for a another vehicle. It is standard, doesnt handle, uses too much fuel, no performance, no room, parts are too expensive, yes im talking about a beetle!

Might have gone too far with this comment.
What do you think Roy????

Cheers
Dave

62deluxe ·

Yeah you went too far. A stock bus fits the above description.....:duh

57kombi ·

Wrong, the bus has plenty of room,

Cheers
Dave

57kombi ·

So any good offers yet, Ive got a yorkie bar with your name onit if youll do a swap.

Cheers
Dave

byronbus ·

I'll part swap for a singlcab split, that would make great advertising for your business...everyone needs a singlecab

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

looks like I will have to part it out then, Dave you have first dibs on the seat
Anybody want the silly things that pop out when you indicate.
Hey Frenzix so thats where all that sticky stuff came from!!

ByronBug ·

:sandrine
Gee the 'fors & againsts' are giving you a good debate Roy...
what have you started!!!
All I have to say is.....that is such a sweet bus......so envious
Did I make you feel better....lol

Don't forget a price on that beetle rear bumper bar please Roy....u2u me when you have it.
Judy😉

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

cheers, good to catch up thanks for the replacement trophy.
Will get you a price asap

57kombi ·

Just to tempt you, Ill give you a tenner, the yorkie bar and a can of tizer.
Thats too good to refuse.
Youve got my postal details, by the way that does include postage to my door I hope.

Cheers
Dave

57kombi ·

So has it gone yet or are we parting it out,
Got a show in a couple of weeks and the seat would look good in mine, Ive just got the original one, no rips or maks but its a bit saggy.
Cheers
Dave

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

A very nice english chap came over wants to drive it home across land, wants to paint it camaflage green and yellow just so them blighters cant see it across the middle east. he wants to cut big holes in the side for more air flow what do you think

62deluxe ·

Yeah why not.....
He really should open up the guards too and fit some fat sunraysias with bolt on flares to cover them. SCHWEEEEET:repuke

57kombi ·

i sold my 67 in similar condition (just not as clean) for $7000 about 4-5 years ago. i now drive a bay, and i tell ya...everyday i wake up id love to be driving the splitty again!!!! i should have put it on blocks somewhere and forgotten about it whist i was commuting through the city.

anyone seen my old splitty...its cream and b.r green, wooden paneling inside. license plate ULU172. sold it at allambie (northen beaches of sydney). the bastard thats got it, give it back...ill swap you a very yellow bay🙂

on the other side of the fence, i dont worry about parking the bay anywhere, and my "non-vw, car loving friends" jumping in and slamming doors etc....dont you love that with the splitty doors!!!
the bays alot more solid, comfortable, cheaper, and alot better on the road. and i always need a car that i can abuse somewhat, not pamper 24/7...soo

dont sell it!!
