My first car was a beetle, a 59 i think, was given to us in very poor condition, it had a plastic bag for an oil cap. unfortunatly it didnt last through my learners and as my parents would have had to pay to fix it up they didnt think it was worth fixing so they sold it to a friend for $200 and then they bought me a mitsubishi colt which i had for 2 years, thern went to a magna which i had for 9 months, then a susuki sierra soft top which i had for 9 months then bought a mitsubishu galant which i still drive and i now have my 1970 beetle which we are fixing up and all i can say is its about time

A yellow '76 1600 tp beetle, that is probably still driving around Bris at the moment. It was my brothers then I bought it. had dark tinted windows, sheepskin seat covers and went really well. There were no vents behind the rear side windows after I got sick of having rust cut out of there.
Then went to a toyota 4runner, then my Subie, which will hopefully share the honours with the '56 when it gets up and going 🙂

My first car was the one in my avatar. It's a '74 Beetle. I remember the first time I drove it (my dad having driven it home from the people we bought it off of) I thought I'd made the biggest mistake. To learn to drive a manual car in a Beetle was horrible at the time, it's only now that I realise if I can drive that thing, I can drive almost anything.
I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with it. As long as it's basically running I love it. As soon as something goes wrong, I start shouting expletives at it and threatening to smash windows.
Oddly though I find being up to my elbows in oil and engine muck quite satisfying as long as I enventually get the problem solved.

My first car was a Blue 1978 Leyland Mini S.
My Dad thought it would be a good idea as he was a Leyland freak and had a mini as his first.
It wasn't a bad car when the brakes worked. 😀
I had a mate who's first car was a 60something beetle. It had an unfortunate mishap and nearly ended it's life when he ran off the road and the beetle rolled backwards onto it's roof and down an enbankment. That car saved his life. (as well as the tree that stopped the car) 😉
I would like to get a beetle one of these days. They sound like a cool car. Unfortunately, I've never even had the chance to drive one yet.
plus about 12 or so i can't remember. I know these all weren't my first car. The one with the number 1 next to it is the first one...

my first car was a beetle, a blue/green one. there was plenty of argument about whether it was green or blue. if anyone has seen this colour before and knows if it was green or blue, please let me know. when we brought it for $300 it was in good nick, but out of rego. we pulled bits off it to make it bush basher suitable. i wish we hadn't. otherwise i would have had a road car when i get my lisence (spelling?).
then i got the one i have now for free. it was bushbasher only material, and we transfered over most running gear from the old one (except for the gearbox). it been fun but unreliable. but despite breakdowns being...... ummm..... commonplace, and it sitting near the shed now waiting for a endine rebuild, i cant bring myself to sell it. i almost did once but am glad i didn't

dad also fixed this.....and finally on a split shift (while i was a cook)going back to work with a mate on the passenger side......just left the bosses house after having a smoke😉i remembered that i needed fuel 5 metres before the servo entrance while i was driving 80 kph i turned into the high curbed entrance and rolled the car 3 times(just one of the 7 cars that i have ridden off in my fairly young life....)but after this the roof was more or less crushed.
me,my mate and my boss that was following, turned the car over back on its wheels and drove it back to the bosses house.after that it rested at our house for abour 6 years untill dad finally had it removed...very emotional time of my life:o
