Finally got things going, bad knees and back don't help. T/C seal not real good so is being replaced. T/C it self seems to have been repaired (braised) but doesn't seem to be leaking or weeping.see pic if it sticks
Only thing really worring me is a crack on the motors bell housing haven't pulled all the tin off yet to see how far it goes. But is it worth it? New case, everything else seems ok

Can't get the pic of the bell housing up yet . Its a crack between upper and lower mounting bolts on the starter motor side. Is it common because I have never seen it in beetles. Don't want to waste money. if I need a new case so be it
