Hi Guys,
I have for sale my VW Type 3. Body is very good for age but not completely straight. Interior is in good condition with a crack in the dash and discolouration on the seats (see pic). New carpet. My brother is head mechanic in a leading VW workshop in canberra, mechanically it is A1. Comes with 3 months rego.

its the swing axle, The brakes are drum rear, disc front. I am pretty sure the 68's were the first disc up front set up. Mechanically it has been looked after by my brother who is the head mechanic at Beetle Exchange in Canberra all the compression is spot on. When we got it, the floor had rust in it, which we have welded up.

How is the rest of the body? Rust under the paint?previously wrecked?

the rest of it is good, it has a little bit of rust in one of the pillars, we have cut out a lot of rust from the floor pan. With rego, in ACT i can get 3, 6, and 12 months.

Nats was good except for the 116,000 pissed dickheads :P
Spent most of the time shooting in the Channel 10 studio so only got to see a couple of hours of daylight. Will post some pics on my website in the next couple of days for you.

You can lower the front of these things by just turning the front arms around a notch (no pun intended).
I can imagine my Empi Sprint Stars on it or even cookie cutters.
Tempting. What's the body damage? Any rust in the inner front quarter panel? Does it leak when it rains?

Yep, these things can be lowered very easily... my last type three threw sparks it was so low. 🙂
There is a small dent in the rear righ panel just near the bumper... No rust in the front quarter panel. It doesn't leak in the rain... Let me know if you want any more pics.

He champ, the notch is in canberra. Its 1600 twin carb engine. Suspension is all good, I will get all the pics of worry spots to you as soon as i can get photos of it in the daylight.

I am guessing it has been, but not since i have had it.
There are a couple of spots where there ar ewhite patches. You can see them in one of the pics. Sorry i couldn't be much more help.

ahh he asked for offers mate. I am from melbourne and would also need to pay for transport, so I am factoring that in. No-one said he had to take the offer.
If its such a great deal at 1900 then u buy it, otherwise save ur useless comments.
I like the car, I have made an offer previously in fact. I am also not saying that it isn't worth 1900. But he asked for offers, and I gave him one.

I will send you an email. But for everyone elses info, sorry it doesn't have IRS. It is the original swing axle. I am pretty sure the IRS' came in to play from the 71 onwards???

May consider a swap for another VW, depending on what it is.
Mainly after another T3, but a square back.. short nose preferred, my main goal is to have a T3 on airbags like my minitruck.

I was after a beetle but a notch also works 🙂 Where's the car at? I'll swing by on the weekend and take a look. I tired to U2U you (?) but the system won't let me (rules, always with the rules😠) What work needs doing to get it through rego? Anything else I should now?
