The server Aussieveedubbers is located on is under distributed denial of service attack. This means from time to time, the server is taken out by a flood of illegitimate traffic. The scum bags who do this sort of crap are cowardly script kiddies who will be first against the wall when the revolution comes. As they're spoofing IP addresses, it's impossible to track down or stop the incoming flood.
Last night, our hoster moved us to a new IP address, and this seemed to work for a bit. Hopefully, this will stop it for the time being. But if it doesn't, then basically, we'll have to wait it out.
They're also looking at getting us onto a bigger box.
Our hoster's gurus (Angus and Steve) are working on the problem.
thanks,
Andrew

I don't think that AVDS is the target of the DDoS - there's many many accounts on the host other than us, and the attacker might be targetting the data center in the US where we are located, and not just our host.

I hope they die the death of a thousand leppers! and their bodys are eaten by the hounds from hell!
Is this why we have trouble getting on to the site occasionally?

Others have told Me they are having same problems too...
The death penalty is too good for these scum bags....
I have an MSN website and I go for weeks without being able to access it because someone has been trying to gain access with incorrect passwords... and I get locked out...

couldnt get on last night as it said there was no such website at the address🙁 but good to see we are going again:thumb withdrawal is a bad thing😉

stupid thing is if they get caught and go to court, when they get out there will be a crowd of people offering them jobs!
zac_smits ·
haha i don't think anyone would want to offer ddos script kiddies jobs.
decent ones maybe..
there was a case here in the uk where a guy hacked a bank and transferred 7million pounds out..took 3 days before they realised and then he transferred it back. just to show them that they weren't secure.
they gave him 2million to tell him how to fix it and offered him a job 🙂🙂
my kind of work!

black hat script kiddies (for those of you who do not know the term "script kiddies" go here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Script_kiddie are more a serious annoyance than a major worry if they are flooding the server and thats all, then when they get sick of it we will be fine again. the problem is that you can get too many do it yourself hack programs on the net and even though these sites usually get shut down withing about a month or 2 a couple more will pop up in that time allowing the bored 15 year olds who think they are special with their non existant hacking skills to piss of legitimate businnesses and servers like ours. most are afraid of the law and wont do anything more than annoy people and from what andrew has said this seems to be the case.
if you have kids and you see :
netbus
back orifice
sub 7 or any of its variants
Winnuke
(just to name a couple) then tell them to grow up and ban them from the computer till they wake up to themselves. because it could be them taking down legitimate forums or webpages just like ours out of boredom.

Denial of service attacked are rife at the moment. A lot of it believe it or not is traceable back to the Russian Mafia. What happens is they will setup a ghost website and send out bogus emails. When the original hosting site tries to respond back to the email or causes flooding at the firewall.
One of our major Banks - lets call them "Eastpac" has this continually. The Federal Police and the FBI have been involved, and traced back to ISPs in the US and in ASIA. Further investigations have it tracked back to Russia - but it is the tracking back through there that's the hardest.
Makes a good story all the same....

I have given up using My Yahoo email account as I received
115 bounced emails [with virus attached] one day and 80 from a USA receiving only address I also use....
The USA Rx ISP went down for a week or two and I now only receive the odd email saying the email that I sent them had a virus attached.... but I can't send emails thru them..!!
My Yahoo is still receiving emails daily saying that the email I sent them contained a virus.....
I also received correspondence from Yahoo saying that they are receiving complaints from people who have received a virus from My Yahoo account....
I have contacted them many times and finally received an answer - its very easy for someone to send an email which looks like it came from You.....
I.m just waiting for My netbanking computer to make an error and give Me a few hundred thousand by mistake....
