VDUBXTC 路

These are some pics of the guys who turned up for Saturdays day on the dunes at Stockton.

But firstly i want to thank the guys who turned up on saturday and i am sorry i missed you on the sunday.
I would also like to give Mike Sharp a big THANK YOU for providing the trophies for the weekend. And although QLD lost the State of origin I was happy to suport the QLD side.

We started with 12 buggies all up, with one heading off fairly early to attend another event.
Peter with the purple Austrum buggy was the only buggy that had a few probs through out the day, with a bent tie-rod and a flat tyre.

NSW were the victors in the hill climb chalange, with mick in his turbo charged 1600 manx taking the win.
with Mike Sharp a close second.

Some of the newcastle lads left the group to take a spin up to anna bay for a feed.
This little trip upto anna bay ended my weekend on the dunes, as i burnt the alternator out on the way home.

The Bronze will post some more eventfull pics of the weekend when he arrives home.

Oh and Sorry manxed69 . I failed to get a shot of you when i had the camera out, as you were off boiling water. 馃槑

J&SBlue 路

Sorry you missed out Brian. Heard about your knee operation, hope your recovery goes well.

Was great to meet the guys from around Newcastle. We lost a few buggies from the Saturday but picked up a buggy and a beetle on the Sunday.

Heres some pics - but sorry TwoGuns only one action photo. Combination of old camera and incompetent photographer!!

Hey Jas, you missed this one from Sunday !!!

We found this lovely J&S 4 seater ripoff as well !!

On Sunday Kevin and Barb turned up in there GS Limo.

And Graham and Andrew turned up in there Beetle !!
This has been "heavily modified" for off road use !! Well actually they put on some off road rear tyres, cut the back guards away to give some clearance and that was it. This thing was amazing - it went places that 4WD's just dream about.

They did get stuck a couple of times but in general it went really well. Even managed to get some "air" - Bronze has the pictures to prove it :bounce:bounce

This is everyone from the Sunday run.

My only action shot. Mike getting air :thumb:bounce

zac_smits 路

love that beetle!!!

i'd be shocked to see that thing hurtle past me on a beach....

zac

J&SBlue 路

Here are a few more that have come from others who were there which actually have some action!!!

MR930 路

Getting me keen to finish my buggy. I'll be there next time.

manxed69 路

the white J&S belonged to Martin (VDU.88A)
its a 1500cc single port running a a ball joint swingaxel pan.

James's green manx is a linkpin swin axle pan with a beetle box.

My green manx you would think would be IRS but it also is a swinger.

Just not happy how it handles in the bush.
Beach it hadles great.

Secoh 路

other than the beetle (legends 馃榾) how many got bogged at all?

MickH 路

C'mon....someone post some more pictures...this is killing me....

J&SBlue 路

Given that we had had so much rain the sand was pretty hard and so hardly anyone got bogged. If they did all it required was a bit of a push and they were out. It is the least amount of pushing I have ever done at Stockton.

Sorry Mick H, I have posted all the pics that I have and that have been sent to me.....actually I do have a small video, I will see if I can get that up.

Mark.

J&SBlue 路

See if this works. Here is a link should be able to download.

The next 3 shots show what happens on landing - not pretty !!!

Somehow I seemed to have missed this thread :blush

I have a few pics that I edited for a about 5 hours today. Say 120 of them!

I will only post a few as they will all go onto Klub VW Offroad site by the end of the month.

Sorry for the delay. I totally missed this post. I was getting a few shots come through Email but that was about it.

Bronze.

Well, You will have to read the full story on Klub VW Offroad once all the pics are hosted and story published but needless to say it was an awesome weekend. The sand was packed, problems minimal and company wonderful. Not to forget the beer was cold and food plentyful.

I'm The Bronze for those that don't know me. I was Ian's navigator (to the right) and the Klubs photographer for this event. I was supposed to go co pilot for Wes (Two Guns) but as you may have read it didn't turn out so. Fortunately Ian didn't mind the extra ballast I provided and since I had the GPS he had an excuse to be out the from all the time I guess.

Saturdays 'State of Origin' hill climb is a bit of fun. It's not ment to be take seriously but for buggies to get together and enjoy each other triumphs and tribulations. There was another hill climb held Sunday also and a opportunity for buggies to get some air and me to get some pics.

A local lad took the Sharpbuilt sponsered trophy on behalf of 'the first state'. Richard brough along his Turbo dreams and blew away the competition, although Mike Sharps Type 4 sharp built did come a fairly close second.

Buggies of all shapes got plenty of good air on the Sunday. The sand was drier and the wind stronger creating nicely rounded crests perfect for gaining some altitude.

This man only known to us as Anon said his wife was not to find out how high his buggy can launch. Lets hope she dosent look on his camera or frequents AVD.

It was the Might Bug that stole the show though. The whoops and yeehars could be heard from Williamtown when this never say die Type 1 hammered slope after slope keeping up with the buggies. Testament to the marque that you can't keep a good Bug down.

There is always more than enough location to visit. Tin City, Signa, Anna Bay, These tank Traps, The Pub. We camped at Stocko caravan park but if you into camping be sure to set your membership is paid and you Buggy is packed for Easter when we all meet again.

Special thanks to Ian and Mike for putting up with me for the weekend and Two Guns for his offer. I really enjoyed the break for work and the sea air for a change. Although I love photographing the buggies I'm looking forward to being in the shot's with the Dog-O-War back on the road in the next month or so. So if you a photographer you can bag a seat with me next trip so I can get plenty of cool shots of the Dog jumping dunes with the sun setting behind.
