Hi everyone

You may (or may not) have gathered by all my various posts - I have a smashed 1970 1500 beetle, and a 1971 superbug that we bought complete without engine, in an attempt to use the body on the 1970 (but no can do:blush).

So now we have decided not to attempt to rebuild our 1970 (and have in fact bought another beautiful 1971 beetle). So we are left with the two mentioned above, that sadly we need to move on to another home...

Currently, we have the engine out of the 1970 in the superbug, so this is now complete. I have advertised (on this forum only) the blue as parts (or whole preferably) and the black as a whole (will part out if no interest).

Problem is, i am not getting much interest for either (a few queries on parts for the 1970 but nothing definite).

How would you attempt to get rid of them - this is what I need your opinions on. I don't expect top dollar for them - just want to recoup whatever is reasonable......

I definitely need to advertise outside of this forum for a start. But failing that, would you take them to Day of and try and sell there? Would I pull them apart or take as a whole and get people to register parts that they could buy if no-one buys them as a whole?? Do you think trading post or ebay is definitely the way to go (is there more interest out there than in here) What's your thoughts, and also any comments on price I should ask for them. I have pics attached to the threads - 71 superbug, and 1970 1500 beetle (pics for 1970 being attached today hopefully) and I will bump them up later.....

somehow posted the above before I got to finish and just say.....most of you guys would have experience in trying to get rid of your parts & beetles - so would love to hear how you think is the best way to go about it....

Thanks, sorry for the long post...

get one of the 70s going as a driver...

build a shed and put the other 70 and the super in it for a future baja/lwb buggy project using the front clip and beam off the 70 and the irs & trans off the super........

I have found that ebay and the trading post is a much better place to sell stuff. If you use ebay start at the minimum price you'd take for it, don't do what some prick did to me and cancel the auction becuase it wasn't going to reach the price they wanted. Also, the last 2 minutes of the auction is when all the bids come in due to people using sniping software.

Thanks for posting the pics brad - apart from the damage shown, she's perfect (was):cry

Regarding getting a shed and building a buggy - have started to consider that. Fetid Swamp(?) you say get one of the 70's going as a driver, I only have one 70 & one 71 sbug (and already have my driver).

If I did that, I will definitely have parts - so would you recommend taking them to Day of to sell - anyone??
