dont know if you guys have heard , and if you haven't you'd better check it out . a cafe right here in NSW called ' beetle nutt cafe ' located at Bungendore near Queanbeyan this cafe is entirely devoted to volkswagen .
VW memorabilia covers the walls , sales brochures , vw toys , meals even named after volkswagens . ITS GREAT !! and the food there was fabulous.
a great place to go for a club run .

i had the idea a whiule back of making a mobile coffee cart. i found a coffee machine for sale for 1500 (mega bargain) and thought 'hmmm, i could make oney off of that!' but plans for anything have gone out the window in favour of getting immensly paralytic due to the end of the hsc.

Its great to see some early Volks in Asia!
Da Wiz ·
How do these old cars still get allowed to run around in Japan - I thought they had laws against older vehicles?
jenz58 ·
WOW!!! Love it......they have to provide the splittie surely....consistant image.... 😎
My little dream was a VW pirate radio station cruising the country....broadcast meet up points and have VW fun...if it was a food van come bar we could party on the spot...a doof doof splittie
VWFREAK ·

Um, nothing against old cars is stipulated in the traffic law in Japan. As far as they pass the safety inspection test, no problems. Those restored old cars get registered as "NEW" and the inspection is good for 3 years to follow.
VW's are just as popular over there and FLAT4's main office being there and stuff.
Some history I know about Type 2's there is that they were officially imported to Japan and distributed through an authorized dealer, YANASE, starting in 1953 with 3 cars and ended in 1976 with 101 cars, totalling 4339 of them. Among them, there was only ONE vehicle with a type4 1700 engine but the rest were mainly 1600s.
Many US vehicles have crossed the pacific ocean. You can see cool pictures of those LHD cars at http://www.oldcars.co.jp/vw/vw.html
and prices there reflect quality of restoration, I guess.
