Mmmmm. My Notch or the lack of it! Got to that stage when everything is apart and clean and soon as the cars painted its time to bolt it back together. I know exactly what has to be done and when but it just seems so far away!
What have others done to aid / motivaite/ get through this transition period???
Cheers Dan:duh

yea I'm in the same position, at the start you just blitz it and pull the entire car down in a couple of weeks, and then it sits... and sits.. and gets cobwebs :o
I just ordered $400 worth of parts from the states to get thefloor pan back to a complete overhauled rolling chassis tho, can't wait to get stuck into it again..

Mate, everyday get a little bit done and a little closer to the end product. It will seem so far off but enjoy it as all of a sudden you will behold before you a thing of beauty.
Keep looking on here or mags and you will be motivated enough.
Good luck with it

You can't rush these things, even if you have the time to do it. (wish I did)
The longer it takes, the more of yourself you can put into it.
Every time I look at the sad thing in my garage I have more ideas and more ways to improve or modify things.
Go out into the garage with a beer (or similar) and just bond with the car and get a feel for it.
If it takes time, so be it.
Rome wasn't destroyed in a day you know.

Yeh its a sad fact of life building projects,I pull my car to bits after every race cleaning oiling but always looks good when finished.Just about to do it againt,my motivation is to much money sitting around doing nothing grabbing cobwebs.JVLRacing

Type a list of all of the things you need to do and keep adding as you think of more and cross of what you have done. Keep notes on the list you print out and amend it and print it out as required. I do this for a lot of projects and it sure saves a lot of time from forgetting things for later on.

So how long has it been Dannyboy? 1 month 2 ?
You are lucky Mine has been about 10 months so far, and as I am about 3 weekends away from finished that is my motivation.
Good things take time

Well as a start i blitz the garage and had a major clean out this evening. Nice and tidy. I have a huge list that i add to Helbus and it does work great. Big white board in the garage.
I think what gave me this panic attack is the fact i took this from being a quick tidy and tune to an another full on project. Not really the daily driver i first wanted. Can't leave things alone , thats my problem. Oh yes beer MR930 ! Well that only leads to no work done , much bullshit talked and thinking that a Top fuel Snorkel REALLY would look good on the boot of the Notch!!! Mmmm Beer
Looking on the bright side , i know the car inside out now and when it's done it will be exactly what i want and not what someone else is already driving or thought of ( hopefully).
Finally to convince myself even further , i don't go clubbing , the pub (very often) and live a reasonably quiet life apart from my VW. Sad yes but as my mum says , "Good to have a hobby , dear" Ah bless her!

Keep posting pics here so people can tell you that you're doing a good job (nice to have some positive reinforcement occasionally!)...also people will start to ask you "Is it finished yet?.....Will it be ready for the show ya reckon?" etc.
I find my motivation was lowest during the bodywork stage as you spend so many hours and feel like you're getting no where. Also when you are shelling out $hiteloads of money and just putting the parts aside in a box, this is a little demoralising as well.
Keep visualising the end product, keep thinking of how nice it will be to slide in the drivers seat, turn the key and fire up the aircooled horses.....ahh I can imagine the sound already...the smell.....the senses all buzzing with excitement (and nervous anticipation) for that first drive! Thats what I keep thinking of (sad I know).

Yep i keep a list in excel of stuff i need to do and i try to schedule stuff and set goals of when i'll get stuff organised and done.
To keep me motivated I try to do some "pretty stuff" occasionally. Like instead of installing a fuel line, i get to try to fit the bumpers or something like that, something that is a bit more eye candy!

Dasdubber you'd laugh. tonight with the bare shell , no guards etc , car on stands , i put a seat back in and sat in my car for 1/2 an hour doing exactly what your on about.
Sound of 44's with 6" velocity stacks , scat shifting , 1776 screaming, no money in the bank!. I was there , thank god i'm not the only lunatic around here!!
