Rego troubles - anyone help??

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/31796/rego-troubles-anyone-help

Bizarre ·

am looking at buying another bug

I live in NSW and this one is registered in ACT

It has been off the road sine the late 80's and has been registered since September 2003.

Now - to transfer to to NSW i have been told i need 24mthe history. This last rego is only 14 mths at the moment.

It APPEARS ACT can only trace a car by registration. Not chassis number.

We dont know what the original rego was back then.

It seems i will either have to pass on this one or wait till September next year (its a goodie - well i think so!)
I do have other car options but this would be a preferred choice.

Does anyone have experience here???

Regards

Barry

this the only way....

or ask the current owner to provide a current yellow slip aka pink slip and keep ACT rego..

cheaper rego
3,6,9,and 12mth options
no inspections...ever.

the down side...insurance.

It doesnt seem to be

It doesnt have a cpmpliance plate. Got lost in the refurb.

regardsless - the several blue slippers i have talked to want to see 2 years history. They are happy the body number matches the rego papers

My problem (well - the sellers i guess) lies with the fact the ACT rego people can only trace by number plate.
Now this seems stoopid as a car may have had several rego plates but will only ever have one body number.....

Oh well..... time to move on

NSW only traced rego by plates until 1989 so maybe you'd still be stuffed.

anyway as long as the car is in good nec it will get through a blue slip ok, just give it a good wash, degrease the motor on top and under it and black the tyres. As long as all the seatbelts and lights work it will get through.
