Just wondering, there seems to be a lot of stuff that needs carrying and transporting between cities as people here buy and sell vw bits to each other.
There is a guy up north who needs rims taken to melbourne and no doubt there are other bits around as well.
I am in Sydney but I'm a professional courier with a small van who is looking for some extra work.
Maybe I could setup some kind of shuttle service to help get parts around the place.
It would mean people would pay to get stuff moved but if several traders or sellers had parts to get across then it could end up being done for a reasonable rate.
I haven't worked out the logistics yet as I am looking for expressions of interest.
If it works out id look at somehow carrying larger things like whole cars but that is a long way off yet.
Door to door service with no transport company theatricals, and a genuine vw lover carrying the goods. (in a Holden)
Anybody interested?
I can do panels, motors, boxes, glass, whatever really.
Will deliver to anywhere if it's worth my while.

i would need a bonnet from dubbo to sydney. Although I've only been quoted $150 plus to get it by courier companies and even mccafferty's

It's a bitch of an industry actually.
Just looking to help out some people and maybe get my expenses covered.
If enough people said they wanted stuff taken to Melbourne or Brissie and enough people at either of these places had stuff going back....
Would be a great way to get to all the swap meets and events, or just meet heaps of like minded folk.

Great Idea! Good Luck..
Mate, I am in the express industry..Your concept is good.. Especially the shipping from swap meets.. I often need parcel work around Nth West Sydney..

Sax. I'm still desperate to get those rims down from up there. Would much rather throw some money at you than some big company. Let me know whenever you're ready 'cause I'm hanging to get them down here.

we could use some sort of password wit our username on the forum and get astar rating for
1) reliability
2) for volume
3) = discounts if we pool
ie have a friend in a Mazda camper in Tassie @ the Mo and lives in central Qld Coast... drivin all the way on his own
hardly no luggage , heaps of space
for a bit of petrol money and the time in detour fot pick up and delivery we would all be laughin and buying and selling and sending more !!

Sax: No word?

Ok, guys here's the deal. It seems like the interest is there and so much stuff could be moved between say, Brissie and Melbourne that I should give it a try.
Lets start with me doing a run to Melbourne this weekend, I would probably aim to be there early for the swap meet and maybe meet up with people there or somewhere else.
Ifanybody has anything to bring back from Melbourne please speak now! Looks like I'm buying a Melway...
Ruckus, where are the rims now? I could probably pick up from Newcastle or Central coast if that is doable?
If thats a definite job to Melbourne then at least we have a start.
About my van, it's a Holden Combo (about the same size as those Citroen Berlingoes, ) it will fit most panels, doors, engines and boxes, if it works out I'll probably upsize.
Looking forward to meeting the out of state people , should be good to see more dubbers.
Karmen, good idea.
Have still to work out the pricing details, but lets just say if the whole excercise does not cost me anything major then it is well worthwhile.
Sydney-Melbourne return works out at about $150 fuel alone but if I get to go to a swap meet as well, then heeeyyy!
Any questions, feel free to post here or ring or email me.
If anything fits in the middle of this little road trip, I'm all ears.
eg: Sydney-Canberra or Newcastle-Goulburn or even Wollongong-Melbourne and back works out well.
All ideas welcome.

I'm only about 45mins from the DOVW and I don't think I'll be able to fit 5 rims and the GF in the car so would it be ok if you come that much further?
I'm waiting for a reply from MR930 as to where the rims will be for you to pick them up
sax 路
That'll be fine Ruckus, about time I learned my way around Melbourne.
So long as you got good coffee at your place.
sax 路
Still looking for freight either going down to Melbourne or coming back.
If there is a need I will do the trip in the car, otherwise I may just cruise down on the bike to see the show.
I need to know, and soon....
ruckus 路
Yeah i'm sure I can scrounge up some decent coffee. There're plenty of cafes anyway. Did you send me the email yesterday?
sax 路
Yep, cafes in Melbourne? You sure?

Can you come back up through Wagga? Have some non vw stuff my daughter needs, then to Newcastle. I can arrange the rest
sax 路
Through Wagga is fine, what am I grabbing? Will it fit in a small (Berlingo size) van.
So far got plenty of room.
