VW Dyno Day 2005 - Feb/March

The VW Dyno Day will be going ahead either late February or early March. Perfect opportunity to see how your car is set up before the Nationals.

The big draw card is still under wraps (I'm sure some people have worked it out) but to put it simply - there will be no excuse not to get your VW down there and spun up on the Dyno Dynamics dyno (to be run in Shootout Mode).

The building is almost at lock up and is a sight to be seen! A purpose designed and built workshop like none you have ever seen. Even without the hoists and racks and parts, and with pits in the floor for the dyno and wheel alignment it is without doubt the best facility you will ever see - and it exists for VWs

So let's see what sort of numbers we might expect from here.

Don't forget, you will never see anyone ever offer a dyno day like this again. (worked it out yet?)

where abouts will it be??

is this in sydney??

maybed the winner of the shootout will win a vw??

zac

HotRodMatt ·

It will be in Penrith, West of Sydney.

No it's not a winner thing...

zac_smits ·

oo that's a bit far away from me 🙁🙁

hmm,,,if i can get up form melbourne i will..

zac

barls ·

ill be there matt so long as i dont have to work

HotRodMatt ·

It'll be a Sunday so hopefully few people will have to work...

sax ·

I'll be there. The sound of VW's getting flogged on a dyno is reason enough to go.

Each easter the bike crowd have a similar deal at a well known bike show, dyno runs cost $5 and you get a Tshirt as well.

Ever heard a 180hp turbo Harley on full noise? Awesome.

I assume the towies will be on hand for those of the fragile bottom end persuasion:jesus

went last year good day. but didnt waste my time putting the kombi on there
so will this be at the new workshop?
how much was it last year?
maybe the draw card is its free to promote the new shop, and to try to increase the numbers on last year not that the numbers were low last year .mike and the crew were flat out all day .
he is pretty good with that dyno one day i was there and he squeezed around 120 hp out of a pobjoy 1916 that came in around 100 hp on the first run

HotRodMatt ·

so will this be at the new workshop?
Yes it will be the grand opening!

Don't forget this is a purpose built facility. 400 square metres on the floor, huge mezzanine, pits for the dyno and electronic wheel alignment, showroom with glass out to the dyno, enclosed fabrication areas - the works...
maybe the draw card is its free

Might be!
one day i was there and he squeezed around 120 hp out of a pobjoy 1916 that came in around 100 hp on the first run
That's right care and respect is shown to every engine regardless of the builder. A few engine builders have rung the shop to thank him for tuning the cars so well.

It's looking that the DYNO DAY 2005 will be in February with the progress that is being made on the complex. Don't forget there will be food on the BBQ and cold drinks and hopefully lots of VWs to be rolling on and off the dyno all day. There may even be a couple of full-on-bring-your-ear-muffs-race cars on the rollers!

It's not just a day for big HP cars either - rolling even a stocker up on the dyno will highlight if you are robbing yourself of go or even save you some damage from running it too lean...

This will be an excellent day for clubs and individuals to come out and see the brand new shop and either watch or participate in the dyno day!

It looks like those with big mouths and so called big engines are suddenly quiet, funny that.

Bare in mind even a stocker is worth running up on a dyno, you may discover that your engine could be running helthier by knowing that its not tuned propery, this is somthing your average mechanic can't tell you from a quick lap around the block, it could be a time bomb ready to go off, or be costing you a fortune in fuel, and hows the price of that latley.

And you can show up some of those who aren't prepared to put it on the line.
