Reasonably good turnout at DOVW. Big range of Beetles from Peter Briggs Fremantle Motor Museum's 1946 to latest convertible and everything in between. Lots of KGs from cabriolets to Type 3's.
Some very nice splits and bays. 23 Window Samba won Kombi class which it deserved.
Where Type1's, Bajas, Type 3s had own category "Kombis" included Splits, Bays, Type 25s and even Type 5.
We expected at least seperate class's for Splits and Bays.

Good day and even the rain stayed away. It was great to see 4(if I counted correctly) VWMA feature cars there. Must be the Perth weather attracting all the good ones.
I was just glad to get my car back on the road in time, even had 12 hours to spare.

Hey moose, remember how I said "Maybe I should send my Kadrons to Stan and have them rebuilt ?". Well it seems I might have jinxed myself.....
When we got back to my bug, I had the engine lid up to show off my oily masterpiece, I thought I might just start it up and have a look. Lucky thing I did, as my old man said - "Hey, is the top of your carby loose ?". The answer was "Oh shit, yes it is !".
All six retaining bolts on the top of the left kadron had worked themselves loose, and all but 1 had disappeared too....., thus leaving the top of the carby loose to flap around, chafe away the gasket and generally let the float bowl spill fuel whenever I took a hard right hand corner....
How it didnt end in tears I dont know. A quick trip to bunnings in Dad's bug, a pack of M5 x 16mm bolts and a painful 10minute contortionist exercise to install them and all was right as rain.
Just goes to show, whenever you get complacent, a vw will suprise you.
Hey 70Cab, beautiful beetle. Did you notice the cab next to yours had a modified dash in it ? I tried to find the owner but couldnt - the dash mod looked great and I was wondering what it is out of - I need a new dash in mine and wouldnt mind doing the same.
All in all a great morning, and a reasonable turnout, including a bunch of the NoH20 guys as well.

Did ya buy your old man a beer?
The day was great wasn't it? The VW Club of WA boys put on a pearla of a show.
The NoH2O contingent had a blast and from all reports were impressed with the quality of cars turning up here in Perth.
That WBX conversion in the limo was done by Kurty....Do you think he needs a supercharger for it?
And Keirans 'samba' is a 23 window!!!! ;-}
Want to see some more pics from the day? And of course the NoH2O "Free'n'Easy".
And follow the links on the left of the mian page.
Brian (from BWM) does good work and he's a VW man too!

Forgot the sunscreen but still had a good day, Got to meet Mr & Mrs Moose and 1 or 2 others, little dissapionted that Baja's, Buggies, kit cars and something else All got lumped into 1 category for Judging when there were plenty of different examples of most of the above... It meant that baja's got judged against The Ferrari bodied kit car of Johns and what ever else, when there were (I was told) 5 Baja's there, which should be enough to judge as a single class...???
Ya get that...
