Last night I had a bit too much time on my hands, so I went surfing the world wide web ....... I just love broadband !!!!

Got onto the RACV site and was looking up VW's. I saw the most amazing looking red oval for sale in a car yard somewhere in Victoria. Had the number plates VW oval and had a red cruisers sticker in the side window. They wanted $26,000 for it. Does anyone here know that car ??????

Would love Santa to leave something like that in my stocking this year !

It was built by Aust VW Performance Centre here in Vic and was at DOVW a couple of years ago. I heard that it cost upwards of $30K to build. That's all I know.

There's been a few threads on this car. Some interesting discussion on the sale price.

its on ebay atm...I went and saw it...its at a dealership on burwood hwy.... tried hard not to laugh in the guys face when he said how much he wanted for it! I'd say its been in the dealers for about 2 months now..poor oval...

no offence but sounds like the person who built it had more money than sense. It looks great but you have to wonder.

what are it's specs?

what motor does it have in it?

its not hard to spend 30K on a beetle

Flying VW ·

It's been around for years, it's a really nice Car and has won just about every prize around. It was owned by Daryl ..... most Melb people would know him.

its a beautiful car...owner traded it in to get a more convenient daily driver or so the dealer says... the funny thing is after people from the forum started asking about it he obviously got more excited and when I asked he'd putithe price up from 15k to 30k! I took pictures of it, they are somewhere in the selling cars forum...

yeah I'd agree its easy to spend 30k on a beetle, but I didn't think you'd get the money back.

I thought that the car looked familiar, but couldn't remember where I had seen it. I agree with you JakJones, it is very easy to spend $30 on a beetle. I have a 65 which Rod and I are restoring and I am too scared to add up the amount of money we have spent on it so far and it still isn't even close to being on the road !!!!!

In regards to it's price, it is only worth what someone will pay for it. If I had a bucketload of money I would look twice at it, it is a very eyecatching car !
