Aussie VeeDubbers to the Rescue

Twas on our way home from DOVW when we were over taken by two rather quick 356 Porsches.

Half an hour later we were waved down by two said 356 Porsches.

An hour of work to help these guys out and we learnt a few lessons.

1. Always carry a spare fan belt.
2. A flat 4 is never in danger when VeeDubbers are about.
3. VW comradery is ALOT stronger than Porsche.

the reason for No.3 is that while trying to fix the Porsche Dave Becker and I saw the guys we were helping try to wave down another 356.

Waving arms frantically to get them to stop our friendly Porsche owner couldn't believe his eyes when the occupants just waved back and kept driving.

Made us laugh, didn't make ol' mate laugh though.

buzzbug ·

by the way,

thats Dave and I elbow deep in the Porsche.

the others are the Porsche owners.

Lokita ·

Aww good little dubbers. 😀

squizy ·

Looks like you've both got your VW uniform on.....tank top and thongs / sandles.:kiss

Squiz....

top work fella's i know i always stop and ask if fellow dubbers are ok when i se ethe broken down :sandrine

buzzbug ·

yep

both in the chinese safety boots.

hypo-vw ·

it would be interesting to see if a couple of porsche 356 drivers would stop if there was a beetle broken down on the side of the freeway ....... doh!!! what was I thinking , beetles never break down !!:cry

baybuscamperkid ·

hehe. you just wanted to get the chance to touch and play with some of that more expensive shiny stuff under the hood. hope you didnt leave any dirty fingerprints on that beautiful bodywork:P

VWFREAK ·

Good work guys. Good to see.

zac_smits ·

looks like they were nice cars...

good to see the veedubbers taking care of their bigger brothers 😀

penguin ·

Bigger brothers??? nah, just the rich cousins!!
and where is the butt crack!! I can't see any!! (Thank god) What were you thinking, bending over like that in shorts, beside a road and not exposing soemthing!! mechanics around the world will be hanging their heads in shame now...... You even had at least one female Porsche owner/driver there to witness it, no longer can we just say that its part and parcel of working on things and bending over.
Damn, where's that belt so I can hitch me strides up!!!

scottbugged ·

Its good see the porsche owner was willing to get his hands dirty to (ha ha). Owning several different make of cars, I have noticed the quickest way to get help on the highway is to be driving a VW.

ColumBUS ·

aww were so nice arent we?

i did the same thing yesterday arvo, only no porsche, just a flash lookin beetle. unfortunately i am thick like two bricks sidewas when it comes to engines or electricals, so all i could do was call greedy (bless him).

but, i still felt nice after that
good word aussie vee dubbers!

mmmmm I did notice a big black hand print on the back after we left, I'm sure it wasn't us! was it Lee?

BUGBOY ·

Did you get the fram filter Dave?
Looks like they wouldn`t miss it!:P

Menangler ·

No missed the filter,
but the funny thing was for such a nice car, it was one of the greasiest engines I have worked on, like I don't think it had ever been cleaned.

twoguns ·

good work dave. ive always stopped for vws. the last though i couldnt help too much. they had a 1.8 suby motor in it, that was of all things, leaking water. i couldnt stop larfing.
the other porsches that went by, i wonder if they thought.... kit cars! pffft. being rescued by vws. some dont like the association.
