Cant stop myself so here we go. Took possesion of this weapon this week. T34 KG with a 2.4ltr 911 flat 6. I can only say. F**k this thing can go. It just begs to be driven hard. But on the other side of the coin it will burble along in top at 60k's with out any complaints. Which is what I have been forcing myself to do as I am paraniod about getting busted speeding.
This weekend I will be sorting out a few electrical probs on it. Usual VW stuff, horn doesnt go, washers dont go the usual old VW idiosycracies. Replace the aging tyres with something a little more modern and then settle down to enjoy this little beastie.

Nah I just got it back from TNT frieght. Had a 40 min drive acorss Melb in the rain to get it back to my place.
By the way if anyone is thinking about shipping a VW across Aussie, I can highly recomend TNT. They were great. No damage, and delivered 4 days earlier than they have advised me.

Man I saw that car in fast 4s years ago. It had a 2l with triple throat webers then, must have had an upgrade since. Looks awesome man. What a sleeper!😎

Thanks guys. I am certainly pretty wrapped with it. Spent a long day today getting the wiring issues sorted out. Man, those spade connectors you get from Repco are absolute rubbish I reckon.
But all the electrical bits are now working. Even dicovered a hidden switch for spotties.
Tyres are going on Monday. so its all go.
To answer a few questions that have been posted.
Gearbox is IRS VW T3 Unit. Seems to be coping with it all OK.
Handling is good due to the IRS rear end. And a lowering job at the front. The new tyres will make it hold the road even better I think. The ones that are on it are quiet old and hard. And probably a little on the WIIIIDE side for my tastes. Going 195/60 front and 205/60 on the back.
I'll post some more pics when it has its new shoes on.

Hey Dave , the 65 Beetle has been fully passed on to my boy Sam. After Valla he's just as keen as the rest of us on the VW's. Pretty good start for him. All the bits are there and the Beetle is a rego'd going concern. No doubt I will be giving him a lot of help with it. So I wont get bored with nothing to wrench on😀

what a weapon. i m looking forward to seeing this at the next cruise/show, and if you need some help weighing it down, id be happy to sit in the passenger seat so that you dont get so worried about speeding fines😉
