I can't believe it, I am working over christmas. Everyone in my office is having christmas off except me. Someone has to stay and man the phone and respond tp crisis !!! Looks like it is me ....... that'll teach me for daydreaming in meetings when the boss is handing out annual leave ........

Much to the envy of most Australians but it will be my second Christmas (excluding childhood) that I will not be working - security, hospitaliaty, cleaning, couriering, etc etc.
I think it's a good thing that there will not be trading this boxing day. Our society is too busy and it shouldn't always be so commercial. I can understand why people would disagree with me but it always seem to be the people who don't want to be at work that have to cover those shifts.
Surely people can wait another day before rush in the department stores.

have only one week off this year usually 2 or 3 but i agree with you Bronze years ago you were lucky to have anything open during chrissy break ,but commercialism has ruined the true meaning anyway(thats my grumble out the way)

well i have two weeks off from painting cars starting the 23rd but in that two weeks i have to build and fit a 11 and a half meter long swimming pool,get my baja into the workshop,strip it and repair,prime and paint,put it back togeather, finish decorating the bed room and put a 6 foot fence round the front yard(45meters worth), so mite not be earning money but sure as hell working the whole time. 🙁

Working Christmas morning 7 till 1 then sunday morning 7 till 1 so no big late night for me, then i dont know what im working for new years but i bet i have to be in at 7 am again on the first ah well. only thing is on sat it is normal sat pay nto public holiday pay

I'm working 5pm to 10pm Christmas Day (add an hour at either end of the shift for travel too). 🙁
Then, New Years Eve, I'm working 4pm to 1am (ie: 1 hour into New Years Day) :cussing - plus the travel mentioned above....
...lucky I don't have a life!

I work for myself but I have found in the past that if I work thru the Xmas brake I get so much done my hourly rate actually almost doubles as the phones not ringing and no reps coming in the office.
Though in reality I haven't had a holiday for 4 years this febuary when eveyone is back to work Ill take a week off with the family.
