Cash as a Christmas present ?

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/33328/cash-as-a-christmas-present

sax ·

Is it the lazy way out or simply the most practical thing to give?

Give em cash and they can buy what they want or do they just spend it on paying bills and end up with nothing.

With kids, it's the easy way of getting out of it without buying something they might not like. Always a possibility with the fussy little turds.

Some will say it shows a lack of love and cant be bothered thinking of what somebody likes but is it really that bad?

Personally I'd love it if a wealthy friend pushed a fat envelope in my hand but that wont happen either...oh well.:jesus

I have no prob with giving or receiving cash.
it's practical and useful.

frenzix ·

most chicks dont like receiving money, they want you to actually "think" of a pressie.. that's too hard for me.

vwtyp2 ·

oh, for spouses or partners it's a different story.
but for siblings or family, I give it the thumbs up.

Dave_Bugz ·

I'm not a fan. I generaly don't like exchangting cash anyway. Like if a mate is strapped for cash and I gotta buy himd inner or vise versa I would rather he not give me any dosh for it the next day, dosent feel right. Rather he waited untill I needed someone to by me dinner. For Xmass tho, i guess some kids (like mid-teens) might be difficult to buy for. My nan has always given me cash for Xmass, i guess because she would have no idea what I would want and I dont like asking for things?

mmmm, cash good for people to get what they really want or to put together with other cash received to get something bigger:thumb

Dannyboy ·

Tokens are good. That way you know it's going to be spent on something that they want.

I had a customer give me a $100 voucher with my local snap on guy which is great. Gets me at least 2 screwdrivers or 3 sockets!!!!!

Dan😉

On the female opinion,
I like getting money for Xmas.
Or I give him a few ideas I would like. (always with the option to return/exchange if not correct)
Gift vouchers are always the way to go....weather it be from a car accessory shop or Kmart. (depending on the person)
Then they can't waste the money on anything else & they choose from that shop what they want.
Judy 😉

I agree with Judy. Vouchers are the way to go as money all too often gets muddled up with the bills and you end up with nothing. Got a KMart card (new form of voucher) for Christmas and know I will get something for me with it.

I think we girls like to think you guys gave a little thought to buying us a present, instead of taking the easy way out. (You know we like to make you squirm) We normally give enough hints for you to choose something we should like.

Yer I have a great way of getting what I want, I cut out picture of the item I want out of the junk mail and put it on the fridge. Works great to get the hint accross. And I also love cash give me heaps of it.

hmmm, on christmas a lot of the stuff you get, although being very nice, isn't the stuff you really wanted or needed. So, therefore, cash is a great option, especially if parents buy you clothes which you would have worn in 1997, but would'nt be caught dead in now. :puke

My Wife and I got a lot of Coles Myer Vouchers, (about $300 worth) We went to Office Works and got a nice new Printer so we can Print Baby Photos.

I think it was perfect, and we still have $150 left.

(Office Works is part of Coles Myer)

I agree, I would prefer a well thought out and researched present .....

I got some money for christmas, how hard it is it to go to the bank and pull out some cash ?????....

Where as I spent hours searching for my hubby's present. I got him one of those drive day things where he gets to drive a V8 supercar FAST

Oasis ·

I was given $200 to spend only on my car. I think if it's specific it makes it a great guilt free spending spree!!

Starbug ·

my dad gave my mum a great present this year.
he wrapped a block of wood with some $50 notes, some tissue paper and then wrapped it in gift wrapping paper.

mum sat there for about 15 minutes trying to figure out what it was, and when she opened the gift to find money wrapped around a block of wood she almost shat herself laughing 😀 😀 😀

money is a VERY good present.

ColumBUS ·

i received mostrly cash for this chrissy, mainly because i asked for cash to fund my car repair/customisation. its good if you ask for it, but i think people should make an effort to find things. like my brother for example. he sawe that i needed a pair of boxes for my 2nd set of 6X9s, so he bought me a set without me even dropping a hint.

hehehe i bought him a slug jug so he can slam it down in tassie!

We got a coles voucher from the mother in law......much better and more appreciated than a set of tea towels !
