As most of you know by now, I have owned this car for nearly 2 years now. Bout time I had some decent pics.
My sister, the photographer, who took the Beetle pics for the magazine a few years back, freed up a bit of time for this shoot.
131 pics later, we have a couple that might look alright. As is always the case, the quality drops when I post them on here, due to the 50kb limit, but keep in mind, these pics were about 18MB each!!
Considering sending em around to the magazines again, but dunno if they would be that interested. Worth a look maybe.
Anyway, here's a few. Enjoy. (Christmas 2004)

Hi,
Nice Notch...........drool
Just a quick dumb question. What is the name of that thing(?) on your drivers side door and how does it work?
Cheers,
Brad.
BenettonVW ·
Brad, no worries. Thats an evaporative air conditioner from the US, commonly known as a swamp cooler, and thats why it is on the drivers side, as it should be on the passenger in the States.
They have a cylinder of hay/ straw in them, attached to a rip cord, that when pulled, rotates the cylinder. The cooler is half filled with cold water, the string pulled, and all the straw dampened. Once the car starts moving, the 'warm' air is pushed through the cold straw, and cools the interior of the car. Pretty prehistoric, but these coolers are 30+ years old, and some start in the 1950's. Not good in rush hour.. 😉
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info and the workings of the Swamp Cooler.
Not comparing to todays A/C, how would you rate the cooling qualities?
Thanks again.
Brad.

Have you won any trophies with it yet? Cause it sure deserves it.😎
geewiz ·
*mmm* notch goodness *drool*
its 'dubs like this that really get me motivated to put the time and money into my ride ... possibly even ceasing the build of my torana...
its hell sweet, keep it that way 🙂
BenettonVW ·
To be honest, never driven it with the swampy on, so I don't know how well she goes.. Just for looks.. 😉
And yeah, she has won a few trophies. It is quite a sweet thing. Always was, even before I owned it and Stealth owned it.. many admirers, and rightly so.
Keep the Notches alive.....
