Yes folks it's on again. Pull it out and start chokin it 'cos this year we're heading to a secret location in Mornington and all are welcome.
Gathering at Station Pier Port Melbourne at 9.00 am for a quick injection of caffeine then cruise to Mornington for a BBQ lunch.
We'd like to see as many split busses as possible to add to the four already coming....BUT......everyone is welcome.
Stay tuned for exciting developments!!!!! (while we think of some).

SUNDAY 30th January. see post page 2. 25/1/05

Julie-Anne ·

OOOHH sounds exciting, I'm there and I'll let my friend know who owns a 66 to come along. We have a 64, so I'll give it the clean up!!

micromatt ·

Chokin!
Hey Brad, will Gnorerteetorf be coming? Or is too busy jerkin the gherkin?
The chappy from Williamstown with the blue splittie and growing family, is he still around? I think his name was Matt from memory. Good bloke. Judging by the number of splitties at the Day of, we may just have a decent turn out.
Anyone else?

57kombi ·

So where does the chicken chokers name come from.
What does it mean.

Cheers
Dave

65busser ·

Good question.

micromatt ·

Yeah, good question Dave.
It all comes back to a trip that a group of us had round Tassie in 03. We were trying to come up with a sensible name for a splittie club, and Chicken Chokers was the best that we could come up with. It just kinda stuck. It was one of those "funny at the time" type situations.
We should meet all you westerners at Mt. Gambier one weekend.

Cheers,

Matt

65busser ·

I reckon there are a good 20 split busses (possibly more) that don't get to shows and cruises......and possibly don't even know of the forum. (Nah not possible).
Love to see those guys get out for the day. If anyone knows of anyone with a Splitty, regardless of condition, (it's not a show), let them know.
Bays welcome too of course. The more busses the better. But all welcome.

Hey Julie-Anne, post a pic of your 64. Is that it in your Avatar?

Dave the full name is Der Chicken Chokers Split Club NG but we keep the NG silent. Get it?

Brad

57kombi ·

I'll be in a cruise to Mt Gambier, only about 8 hours from me, in the bus?

Cheers
Dave

Stealth ·

Boy's have i got some work to do or what?
Shit, better stop chokin the chicken and get to it!!:o

micromatt ·

C'mon Anthony. You'll only need 2 weeks to finish won't you?
Maybe you should organise a working bee to get the job done. That way we can all come over, stand around drinking beer and watch.

micromatt ·

Dave,

Its probably 8 hours for us too (yuk!). Still interested though.
Can you email me some pics of your bus. I cant get them up at work.

Cheers mate,

Matt

57kombi ·

Well you must be the only one on here that hasnt seen the pics.
I have posted hundreds.
Send me you e-mail
But since you asked heres a few.

Cheers
Da ve

57kombi ·

again

65busser ·

Dave, I think he has seen the pics, he just wondered how much promting you'd take to put 'em up again.
It's a beaut....you simply can't have too much of a good thing like that.

Now, you've been asking about where Chicken Chokers came from.....I just gotta ask.....where are you coming from with Jolly Boys?

57kombi ·

Jolly Boys is from Only Fools and Horses a long running comedy in England about two brothers, the funniest thing to come out of England ever???

They went on a day trip on a coach and called it the Jolly Boys Outing, stopped off at every pub on the way and all got pissed including the driver( you have to see the episode).
Anyway I just thought it was a good idea to call our day trip that, didnt get pissed though , had the missus and baby in the bus.
And for the do gooders , I dont mean that I would drink and drive if they were not in the bus.

Cheers
Dave

jnr356 ·

mind if i tag along??
i'll try and be inconspicuous!!!

65busser ·

Yeah right.

Mate, we'd be honoured.

micromatt ·

You are always welcome mate!

micromatt ·

Oh, good morning Brad!

Aren't you supposed to be on hols with the family?

Julie-Anne ·

I can't come, I just realised I'm in South Coast NSW that weekend. Sorry everyone, what a bummer, it would be so good to be part of a cruise with all splittys

:cry

65busser ·

Hey bummer. Never mind there'll be other opportunities. Some interesting stuff coming.

aggri1 ·

Ohh groovy. But I have a Bay, so I hope you don't mind if I just tag along quietly* somewhere. Can't wait to see some splittys.🙂

Aurel.

* Quietly in VW terms, that is.

matttyler ·

Yep still around micromatt. Unfortunately wont be able to make it to the run on the 30th, we are both working. Sounds like a good day tho.....
Hopefully next time...

BenettonVW ·

I think Nellie would look outta place there... 🙁

57kombi ·

Just put her inside a van.

Cheers
Dave

BenettonVW ·

Well we considered hiring a semi trailer between a few mates, and putting em on the back of that...

He can drive the truck, and I will 'cruise' whilst sitting in my bus on the trailer..

65busser ·

Love to see that. Tinny in one hand, elbow out the window...Benetton style.

Hey let's get this straight. This is not a "Split bus only" affair.

Everyone is more than welcome.

Some have said that it's a bit far to go and would prefer something shorter cruisewise.

If Mornington is too far to go we can go to the pub at Mordialloc. That still gives us a 30 minute cruise in convoy from Port Melbourne, all the way down the beach.

The aim is to get out there and have a bit of fun.

The weather is looking good too.

jnr356 ·

i always reckon they're too short

BUGBOY ·

I`m all for a long cruise but if its coming my way I`ll meet up along the way.
Might even get the split out!
Then again I got a belt for christmas and better wear it.:o
See you there.

65busser ·

Yes....nice one Nathan. I think we'd all prefer to see your Xmas belt.

OK, here's the deal.

This Sunday 30th.

9.00 - 10.00 Meet at Station Pier, Port Melbourne. Good coffee/breakfast place if you like. Basically hang around the carpark talkin' s#1+. If you wanna come to the pier only then bugger off..no problems. Join us.

10.00 - 12.00? Head to Mornington, go down Main Street, Mornington till you hit the beach, then go right and a few hundred metres to the park on the left. Not the big park at the end of Main Street. You'll see it.

If you want to join us on the way...great. Or if you want to meet us at the park...same.

There are BBQ's there and all sorts of tucker in Mornington a few hundred metres away if you don't want to BBQ.

Pray for great weather...see you there.

Lez roll.

Brad

Stealth ·

cant wait Brad see you guys there.

57kombi ·

So your not coming to Adelaide then

Cheers
Dave

65busser ·

I think we'll just leave it open......anyone who wants to continue on to Adelaide...... can.

BUGBOY ·

Looks like the weather is going to be great.
Might even wash the car for the day!
So whats everyone cooking? CHICKEN?
