Non original motor and unregisted...............
What's the old barge pole saying?

It would need all engineeing certificates and MR approvals before you even consider ringing!

Try this one http://www.aussieveedubbers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=32948

Good luck

i would say no, not for a first time vw owner, and certainly not for a non enthusiast.

if hes looking for a camper id suggest spending a bit more, as 9 times outta 10 you get what you pay for... anywhere round 5k is usually pretty good

You might be surprised what you can get for that amount of money. But as stated, you'd wanna check out all those mod certificates.

My old bus had a Mazda 323 1800 in it, and was dual fuel. It was a great car and ran on the smell of a fart. Apart from the fact that a real air-cooled Dub donk is the "stuff", it might turn out to be the proverbial needle.

The paint looks good, obviously somebody has put a lot of time and dosh in. I'd check it out, but with a good healthy dose of schepticism, and definitely a professional once over if it gets your own personal green light.
