OK, I'll take her out for dinner, as long as it's not seafood or silver service but only if she pays for a movie afterward....:P

From about 64ish on the 3rd number of the floorpan stamping state's the build year.
197644158 means it is indeed a 67.

Hi
As Dave said its a 1967. The 9 denotes it as an Aussie bug.

the 9 threw My numbers up in the air!!!
Where do You get Your info??
All mine is for German Beetles, and I did wonder whether Aussie & south Africian etc beetles had different chassis numbers....

Got a shot of the back lid? Are the sun visors attached to the mirror or to the 'rail' above the windscreen? Still could be a '67....

Looks exactly like a 67 should... Old stuff.. slanted lights, etc. No crest emblem like the 64+ have... Anything earlier will have that wolfsburg crest above the handle. The fatter indicators..
Yep.. 67.
BUGBOY ·
Looks like a 67 but have you cheack the date on the back off the speedo?
68AutoBug ·
Yes, it certainly looks like a 1967 Beetle to Me... made in Clayton Victoria... its NOT a 1968> so it could be earlier... plates and numbers can be changed on beetles very easily.... Can You give Us the engine number?
If its original - that will be of some help...
If its NOT original.... back to square one...
check the date on the back of the speedo.... that will tell You what year the speedo was made.... 1966 or 1967??
Does it have the wide number plate housing...??
What year do You want it to be???

Hi
I fail to see why your not convinced. The local bugs kept all the bad stuff until the 1500 bug came out, they were stuck in time in 1964 while the rest of the world moved on.
