I have never heard of one of these before, a 6 door splitty?
HotRodMatt ·
Very bloody clever!
t2 ·
its like a double door only different ,looks shit
bertie_beetle ·
hhhmmmm, innovative, but whats the point. But hell, its a VW so i lurve it.
buzzbug ·
i'm with bertie,
looks cool
HotRodMatt ·
The practicality is supurb. Exactly what VW is all about. That car is never gonna be a cargo carrier so why wouldn't the doors be configured to provide better access to the seats?
pod ·
i love it!!!😎
t2 ·
practical yep maybe, but for me it looks like its a foot longer with that big bit between the cargo doors , the side step is really long the windows are in wierd spots which makes what would be the fifteenth window position look awkward , just when something isnt broke why fix it. it doesnt do it for me
bertie_beetle ·
what are the normal doors. double ones that meet in the middle?
t2 ·
yep they open like barndoors , this is why some people me included thought a split kombi was called a barndoor kombi . a bd is actually an early bus from 49 to 54 i think they were out in 49 maybe 50
bertie_beetle ·
hey, i used to think that too. the barndoors got the huge engine lid. Well, if splits normally have the "barn" style side doors, isn't that much more practical than those pictured?

Nice!

Yes, this is factory.
Brazilian factory that is.
these were a S.O. (special order) that were used mainlt as taxi's
this door arrangement makes the rear seat much more accessable.
corner windows make rearward visibility a whole lot better too.
vwtyp2 ·
oh, apparently there was a model that had 3 doors plus the drivers door on each side too.

Weird n probally only in the UK
twoguns ·
