barls ·

while out getting parts with my old man i found these items on the shelf.
a kombi minus running gear

or a 69 shell

ruckus ·

Man that's impressive! No paint work needed. Pitty the beetle shell is LHD and appears to be a super?

barls ·

no its based on a 69 from what i was told it just has the big tail lights on the guards. it doesnt take much to convert it though

Desert Moose ·

How Much.........:thumb

and whats the number :P

barls ·

im sorry moose i cant give the number but i will say about 5g for the bug and about 15g for the kombi

Fossil ·

twin cab looks like it may be LHD also as no door on the left side :kiss

Secoh ·

shame you cant rego the kombi. it'd be a current year build and would have to comply with all the current ADR's.

glider69 ·

Not if ya had a busted one and swapped the compliance plates over:duh

Secoh ·

yeah every time I asked about these bodies they got more expensive. when I first heard about the beetle it was $1500, when I phoned it was $3000, now it's $5k? "drugs are bad, mmkay"

Mick, that's called rebirthing and you can spend jail time if caught.

64vwmark ·

You should be able to register the Kombi with an engine that complies with current ADR's shouldn't you?

Maybe a subi engine?

Che Castro ·

Are they mexican/brazilian? It'd be nice to have a clean straight body but I think I'd trust an old one more.

I think secoh meant current ADRs like crash safety, etc which old aircooleds have no hope in hell of meeting.

The only way would be as an ICV which would be a lot of hassle and expense. you'd be better off to export it to NZ, build it, then import it as a private import and rego it that way.

I wouldn't be giving birth to it!!! I would be adopting it and giving it a different name.I know people who have done this with a Kombi, and while not saying it is legal or moral (it IS wrong/against the law people) if the "donor":duh car is a writeoff and i mean you melt it for scrap:thumb there is no way it could be traced as a rebirth car. I doubt that anyone would even be any the wiser...especially if the "donor":duh was already a registered car (current rego). With the prices of the Twin cabs these days I'm suprised no one has bought this yet!!! A "NEW" Twin cab for under $20000......makes your brain start a tickin' !!:duh
