Aero guards

I've always liked the look of VVWS's Aero guards and am thinking about a set for my '56 Beetle. How much wider are they than stock and what are they worth (yes, Dave, call them :P but it's a public holiday today!)?

Dannyboy 路

Don't know on width , massive i'd say maybe 3" over? Cost is about $250-300 each. There was a recent thread on these. Look the biz , do it, do it , do it, do it!

approximatly 2 inches wider than stock

ColumBUS 路

aeros on an early bug? itd be a risk, but id take it.

the style clash would be saying something. the older beetles are usually reserved for resto - cal, or retro custom looks, whereas aeros are more for the german style.

last price i heard was $259 each.

Alex Holzl 路

ive got them on my race oval.

normally i would agree about early cars being Cal look and Supers being Germal/Euro

But personally i think areos were almost made to bring early's a more modern look

the BEST aero job was Richard Holzl's oval.
I "think"they were the first. What ever that car was sensational. In Talbot Yellow that car was great.

Some one copied that car and i believe Cupid Wedding cars now has it.

Alex's oval is also well sorted.

Then again - on more modern cars Steve C's suited the 1302 and Jurgo's the 69 standard

Barry, George from Cupid now owns the car, it wasnt copied... He got a bargin It probally cost around 50K to build and i know it didnt reach that figure when sold about 18 months ago. Kevin ( the origional owner ) needed some cash quick n was forced to sell it

ColumBUS 路

ive seen ur racer alex its rad

its all about how you want the car to look. for example i wouldnt suggest the aeros if your goin for a classic look. however if you can drive like alex, then do it!

VWCOOL 路

yeah, I agree with your sentiments re styles. My Oval is a resto-cal now (blades and side trim, Porsche headlights, 50s-style baby blue paint) but I reckon the Aeros look horn.... 馃槈

And yeah, I don't mind a nice drive - my car was neck n neck around Amaroo than the (now Cupid) talbot yellow one with Aeros!
