Are there any of these around? As in, in Australia?
I think they are the best of the Karmann Ghias, however can't remember seeing that many, if any, in real life? I am sure I have, but my brain has had a day off today.. 馃槈
Someone?

There's that one I saw advertised from S.A., but I can honestly say I've never seen one at a NSW show in the last 15+ years....unless I'm blind.

Hmm.. cause they are pretty noticeable aren't they..
For those that don't know what I am talking about when I say low light, the first few years of producing KG's, the very first design had the headlights lower than uhh... was it like 62(?) on wards, and then another change later.
The shape was quite different, and one I quite like.. Very flowing.
I'll try and find a pic.

As you can tell, the lights are placed a little lower, and the guards are curvier too. The 'nostril' vents are smaller than the later years as well.
Hope this helps.

Actually '59 is the year of change. THere are at least two on the road in Vic, the light blue one which was on carsales.com.au a few months back for $26k and another pestachio (!) green one. I know of another one in country Vic which was a half finished LHD project. Had plenty of rust and the dash was hacked in a conversion attempt. Was for sale couple of times. Last I recall was for $2,500 but he didn't get any takers. Yeah, Mario has a LHD for $14k. Jerry from Karmann Ghia Australia has a cabrio one too. Headlights are lower, nostrels are smaller and further apart and tail lights are smaller too. From memory, the steering wheel was different too.

Mmmm i want!
i think the lowlights are the definitely better looking than the later ones. The grilles look more like the side grilles from a Merc 300SL. Which i love.
