Spook 路

Scanning the trading post the other day, I came across a beetle. (the garage sale beetle turned out to be only fit for razor blades)
The problem is (or was) it's in Dubbo.

An email to the Bronze & several phone calls later, he checks it out for me, sends me several photos, test drives it, does a REVs check. He assures me it's a good'n, so I send him the cash & he grabs it for me.

Called him last night to see how it all went, & he's out cruising Dubbo in it, having been dub-less himself for 9 months.

So here's to you Steve.....:beer
I owe you one.

VDUBXTC 路

On ya Bronze.
Your good guy. 馃榾.

But spook be carefull it might come back as a Baja. :P

seagull 路

Hee hee 馃榾

Spook 路

Won't bother me, I'm quite partial to the baja,s, but it may upset #1 son.

Go Bronze 馃檪

Just once again showing the quality of our nations teachers..... 馃檪

As I'm new to the VW scene as far as reading forums, shows etc go it's good to see people helping others with the same hobby/interest out. My ex drives a late model convertible capri & due to the low numbers it was the same there but alot of the boost brigade & ICE enthusiasts get very territorial & hate outsiders. Weird but true...

Funnier still is seeing that same territorial attitude when racing R/C, theres nothing funnier than that! :thumb

zac_smits 路

he's still out by the looks of it....

BenettonVW 路

God bless ya both.

Chewy 路

god bless the internet...

Good one Bronze! How much spook?

WABaja 路

What if he gives it to you looking more like This....???:thumb

:P

Spook 路

$1200 with 3 months rego.
You can still get a bargain if you look.

Spook 路

Now comes the fun part, I gotta go get it.
Newcastle to Central on one train, Central to Dubbo on the XPT.

I'm actually going to spend more time on a train on my day off than I do working.
But hey, it's 1st class & it's free. Life should be so tough........馃槑

The_Bronze. 路

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Nice Pic by the way WABaja.

I jumped at the chance of Spooks offer to check out the Blue Beast for the Back of the Black stump for him and Mel. Purchased as first car for his lad, all I can say is Spook can be my Dad any day.

Spook, his family and I had met when I lived in Newcastle. Our kids had bombarded each other with New Years waterbombs while we skinned a beer or two in the shade. I wouldn't recommend sending 1200 clams off to just anyone and trusting them to pick out your kids ride so I'm pretty chuffed that they would trust me with this purchase.

The bug itself is the first standard I had ever driven funnily enough. I had to imagine it as a baja and figure how all the extra stuff worked like opening the bonnet, heater hoses, having to squeese under to check the pan etc.

Spook has just left in the last 20 minutes heading back to Newcastle. I wish it was me but I don't have the time to deliver it being the beginning of the school year. I hope it serves them well and the New dak lad get plenty of Doof Doof out of it.

Bronze.
Pic: Spook (Left) and I just before heading off.

Nice pickup !

Gotta love it when a plan comes together.

WABaja 路

Well done guys, that's a good looking car too... Nice score...

sneak_e 路

Now that's more like the camaraderie vw'ers are known for 馃檪 not all this other bitching stuff that's been happening lately. The world needs: legalised dope, better surf spots, kombi parking parallel to the coastline (better views of said surf when kicking back from the side door), and more hawaiian shirts!

Doug Sweetman 路

Another vote for more hawaiian shirts !!

We should have a NAtional Hawaiian shirt day.

sneak_e 路

We should have a NAtional Hawaiian shirt day.

...amen brother 馃檪

Spook 路

Home, exhausted, but home.

Motors strong enough, but there's some major adjustments to be done to little things like brakes, clutch, lights, & that f#cking muffler.

I can still hear the thing.........馃槑

WABaja 路

WHAAAAAAAT..?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

WE CAN'T HEEEAAR YOOOU...!!!

Spook 路

30% of my hearing is already equally divided among various locomotives. At least with my baja, I knew to wear earplugs!!

Number 1 son is as happy as a pig in shit.

Spent his time yesterday arvo cleaning the interior til it was spotless. Today he reckons he's gunna polish it, but he's gunna learn to do an oil change first.
I warned him though, all this TLC on the beetle is going to mean his half hearted attempts when he's asked to do his mother's car have come to a grinding halt.........:puke

Spook 路

The plot thickens.

Having got everything up to scratch, I'm now hard pressed keeping the lady Melanie out of it.
(my wife, incidentally, is the president of the "All VW's should be f#cked & burned club")

I don't know whether to be pleased or pissed off.

I wish I had known I could have got away with a $1200 beetle BEFORE I paid the national debt for the Mazoodar that's now gathering dust.....馃槧

lol

another one I want to nominate for this thread is Dave Becker.

Bought my square from him last year (Oct or Nov not sure), so when it stopped dead (at QLD Transport no less after registration) yesterday, who do I call and who guides a mechanical numpty around under a type 3 that I know nothing about.... DAVE B.!!!!!
He out up with numerous calls asking such stupid things as ... wheres the starter motor...
Frak! I thought flat motors would be way different from an upright, but at least he didn't laugh at me...
particularly when it just turned out to be a very very dead battery (Yes, I had power to the radio and other things, just not enough for the motor)

So thanks Dave 馃檪 owe you a cpl of beers at Nats.
