the guy i went to in coburg melbourne on the corner near where mitch's motors used to be said i did, but he was an asshole, told me my engine mounts were cracked (on type 1).
i never did find any engine mounts. i recomend you dont tell the rwc inspector that you plan on doing the work yourself, he probably just wanted to stall me and hope i paid him another $60 after the week was up for another ticket:cussing

yeah, you kinda do. it comes under the heading of
'dangerous protruding ankle tearing metal bits, the avoidance of.'
apparently the jack points are considered dangerous, especially to people who run really fast at your dub and try to kick them. one of my boards blew off in in a windstorm in chatswood, and the other fell victim to a nasty speedbump. no, they weren't on very tight 😉
as far as engine mounts go, there are some rubber/metal mounts under your car, back of gearbox, with bolts thru them, and they do tend to shear between the rubber and the metal. quick fix: drill another hole and put another bolt through them. also stiffens them up a bit.:thumb

cheers pete, i replaced them gear box mounts. 😉

common sense must be used when ispecting cars for rego . The RTA rules for rego is a broard view of safety requirements . As an inspector , if a VW beetle comes to my shop for a rego check and the running boards are missing , it doesn't fail due to this . I dont consider the jacking points to be a serious health risk to pedestrians . If the some VW beetle comes in with running boards fitted , but are badly rusted or insecure and there is a danger that they might fall off , then it fails for this . 😎
