did the clean up, paint and fit of my twin kadrons today with the assistance of dave becker (cheers mate).

after some initial delays with me installing a few things upside down during the rebuild we were set to install.

after swearing and cursing while removing the old single set up, we scoured the shed for the parts i was missing and set about installing them.

After painting the manifolds a pretty shade of yellow, they now look black from the oil and crap on our hands (leason learnt about painting things in the engine anything other than black) we had them set up and running and with a few fiddles with the mixture screws and idle i was off to enjoy the world of a little extra power.

there were a few stalls at the lights but they seem to be running really sweet now.

can't wait for the nationals drags to see how they go.

Once again cheers Dave for your help, i think i owe you are fair few of these :beer:beer:beer

ColumBUS ·

someone here said before, some people's blood is worth bottling

this forum is a magnet for such people. i would be lost without it.

and yes, kadrons own!

buzzbug ·

very true kikko, there are some people out there that are just purely good people and are extremely helpful.

i can guarentee that my bug would not look anything like it does with out Daves help.

From memory Dubba you have the twin 45mm DCNF webbers back on because the Dells ran like shit.

the little Kads are so much more reliable than both of them.

:P😉:thumb😀😘vader

andrewh ·

Would there be any benefit to going to dual carbs on a stock 1300?

buzzbug ·

well i noticed a fair increase on a standard 1600.

try posting that Q in the tech forum.
you should get a reply in there.
lee.

barls ·

good to hear lee hope your having fun with it now

buzzbug ·

i just have to get the motivation to get in with some prepsol and clean all the grease off them.

buzzbug ·

i think i will to, ha, i might do it at work as we have only one aircraft for the first 6 months of the year. All other c-130's are OS doing relief effort stuff.

you should post a pic up of how snazy the twin carbs look after you clean the grease off them 🙂

buzzbug ·

they will look better when i get the new air cleaners on them too.

ColumBUS ·

You too can make into the 21st century, leave those nasty old carbs behind. If you sold your Kadrons, you'd have more than half the money you need for EFI, think about it...😉

pete wood ·

And once you have EFI, a turbo and intercooler is just a hop skip and a jump away. :thumb

P.s. run buzzbug, run. The bad Pete is coming out and I can't stop him, no no don't don't make me go away, Noooooooo!

LOL 😀

buzzbug ·

bugger it,

straight to the front mount 5.7L Gen 3 chev with twin super charger.

gary myers eat your heart out.

pete wood ·

buzzbug ·

buzzbug ·

ok

they are clean now!

i got off my arse and did it.
though it did take some of the paint with it.

barls ·

oh well at least they are clean mate

buzzbug ·

thats true,

though i did notice a few paint imperfections while i was at it.

And unfortunately, you know what that means.

Happy thought and sad realisatioins 🙁

pete wood ·

looks sweet, enjoy my friend. 🙂

buzzbug ·

thanks pete,
shall do.:thumb

scottbugged ·

Just a question, How do you check and replace the spark plugs with twins on?

buzzbug ·

i will let you know when it needs to be done. :thumb

i honestly haven't even thought about it,

hopefully someone else can help you with that problem.

VWCOOL ·

Now all you need is a 1916cc engine under them
