i was disgusted when i opened the mail today and found a speeding fine for $100 and 2 points, then i thought i should be proud as its not very often you get booked speeding in a 80 golf diesel going up a hill!!!!!!
might go and get the photo so i can hang it on the wall...and maybe do something about the tyres being 80 profile and the speedo reading about 12km slower than it should..ha ha

83 in a 70 zone - pretty good hey! i thought about trying to fight it, dont know whether its worth it but these are my first points i have ever lost in 15 years of driving so really i am a bit disappointed.

the speedo is a worry, they only meant to be 10% out at worst - but you could try and get off with the good driving record

but it is the tyres fault as they are higher profile than original. should i argue that it is the tyres fault or the speedos?

it wouldn't matter. ADRs say the speedo should be no more than 10% out either way. if it is more than 10% out, it is in breach of ADRs, therefore the car is unroadworthy. ouch!

i got a 76 golf and the speedo is out, 130 = 110, so i somtimes dont tell anybody, like the cheech and chong movie up in smoke, when cheech picks up chong (he is dressed as a woman), i boot it untill i am going 130klm and ppl freak out!! lol, must be a problemo with the golfs, but hey mine has 550k on the clock yehaa

lol my dad caught years ago speeding in country NSW in a torana Sunbird which wouldn't pull the skin of a rice pudding let alone t yank of your sister - contested it and lost 😀

had a thing over here in sydney with the same sort of thing with buses going uphill and being caught by a speed camera when the bus was lucky to pull 10ks under the limit that was posted:thumb

hey little known fact is here in NSW if you have been driving for ten years with no offences and get one you write in and they let you off no questions asked. Unless of course it was real bad which yours wasn't. I wore one for my wife doing this. i.e they got the car on camera speeding sent me the fine as it was rego'd to me and i took it as she hadn't been driving as long. Got off no problem. Not sure what the go is over there but worth a try. I know the mexicans (Victorians)don't have it.

Cops gees they suck i lost my licence in one go in my kombi and then lost the same amount of points went i was on my 1 point licence in my baja and both times there asked me if my motor was the standard one

eatser of 2003 , I was cruising back from Adelaide ( where I had contested the Australian hillclimb championships) in my 1976 V6 chev powered microbus with the sports sedan and trailer on back , when a copper appeared from nowhere and pulled me over for speeding . He booked me for doing 132kph in a 110kph zone . lucky he hadn't seen me earlier on the Hay plains , where we reached speeds of 145kph when overtaking several cars at a time .:vader

True Mate (if you don't speak you don't get booked) but they book you @ 64k now. Gee I am sure my 40 years old speedo reading in MPH is not that accurate.

NSW government has recently lowered the fines for speeding offences for 0-15K over the limit, but they've increased the points lost

Everybody has a sob story about getting done by speed camera and the cops, the fact is that if you speed you get caught, if you don't speed, sometimes you still get caught, go figure!!!
I got down to 1 demerit point at the age of 18, now 20 years later I haven't lost another one since! But then again i do drive like a nanna and my bug doesn't go very fast.

In the UK there is a vigilante group that has declared war on fixed speed cameras. they leave them in a bit of a mess when they have finished.
Copped a speeding ticket coming back from Valla in my kombi, they were going to charge me $11 for the photo as well as the fine. damn cheek, I ended up getting it for free and I might just frame it.

Its just like sport. If you play football, you will stuff your knee. If you're a boxer, you will end up with a blood nose. If you're a sprinter you will do a hamstring. If you speed... chances are you will get caught. Just gotta live with it. Im on a 15 year injury free run. Woohoo.
