How stupid are some people ?

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/35137/how-stupid-are-some-people

mscabrio ·

I went for a job interview last week as I am looking at cutting down my hours and having a job with less responsibility as I have other things that I now wish to focus my life on. I made it VERY clear in the interview my intentions and guess what I didn't get the job, but they did offer me an alternate position, more hours, more responsibility .... JUST what I didn't want ..... Needless to say, I knocked them back, and they had no idea why ?????

theverybigtallman ·

yeah but would you want to employ a bloke who wants less hrs, less responsibility?

mscabrio ·

Firstly, I am a woman so I would hope that they didn't get that confused ....

Secondly, I applied for a part time position, so that sorts the hours side of it out

and Thirdly, I want to go from a management position back to one of a worker

Can't see the problem. According to them, they think that I would get "bored" and would rather see me as one of their managers. I have other "life" commitments now and would rather spend my engery focused on that than focused on work.

It is their loss anyway, they thought that they would get me in a management role and they didn't get me at all ......

:duh

hey my girlfriend is goin through simmilar crap at the moment.. shes trying to get another job as she works with some stupid bitchy women who make more money then they are worth...

shes being picky about the jobs she applies for as she wants to build her career and work for a good company but nearly everyone expects her to take time off work for interviews at short notice, sometimes more then once or twice by the same company... when she asks for an interview after 5pm they crack the shits and tell her theyll call her back..

some are just so narrow minded and selfish, its ridiculous...

hehe...tasty....

I understand you completely mscabrio. In the past I've had jobs in management and earned the big bucks but now especially in Noosa nobody wants to pay the money but they expect people to want to be managers etc. just for the sheer pleasure of it! A mate of mine has just resigned his job as resort manager where I work (I'm just front desk reception) but myself and 2 others on front desk actually earn more than the managers as they're on salary so they don't get any extra for weekends, late shifts or public holidays. I'm more than happy to stay as I am with less responsibility and less hours and get the chance to see my family now and again but the big bosses can't get their heads around this and keep asking me to do the job, I'm afraid I stress about the job in direct proportion to the amount I'm getting paid and even though I get paid pretty well for Noosa it's not enough to get me over excited.

littlebugga ·

some people just leave you shaking your head... same situ with me as ancientbugger, bosses wanted me to apply for management - less pay, more hours, more stress and months of graveyards... hmmm, they don't really sell it to you.
at least you know what your looking for for now and aren't afraid to say no. good for you and good luck job hunting mscabrio!

Brett ·

You all need a job like me, flexable hours - start from 7 till 9:30 finish betwwen 3pm and 6pm. Just have to do 140 hours a month. Any more than that can tack as up to 2 flex days (14 hours). Great.

No stress, great bosses, over 50K a year, live in the country so this is heaps. Never take work home, never work on weekends. 40% of time in Office, rest working outside. More if the office is shitting me.

And great fast web service to play "post on Aussieveedubbers"
