Should I buy this?

Hey guys,

In addition to my splitty singlecab that I'm picking up in the next few days, I'm also considering buying a 1960 microbus that I've been told about.

I haven't seen it as yet but the verbal description is as follows:

- 1960 Microbus (semaphore model with round tail lights)
- original paint, any rust has been replaced with metal patches welded in and primer over (so can see extent of repairs))
- registered until 18 months ago (approx)
- has non-original 1500 engine
- running, originally fixed up for roadworthy about 3 years ago so probably not too far from r/w
- price $5,500 firm
- missing rear seats but can obtain some apparently

So what do you guys think? If the rust repair thing checks out, is $5,500 a fair price for a solid 1960 microbus needing some minor work for roadworthy. I know it's hard to judge without photos etc, however I tend to make emoitional decisions about cars the moment I see them so I want to make a decision on the spot (based on my assessment of the rust situation and basic condition and knowing the car is reasonable value at $5,500)

All opinions will be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Steve

I think it sounds like very reasonable value, without seeing the rust etc...

Post some pics when you get it...

if rust is repaired as said and repaired well, then definately sounds good.

especially if it had rubbers replaced when metalwork was done

Thanks guys esp Mark...the car is in Dandenong but I'm waiting to hear back from the owner (I've only spoken to a friend of the seller who's passing on my details). So when I arrange a time I'll check with you to see if it's convenient to check it out!

Will update with any progress.

Cheers,

Steve
