Insurance - help!

Hey all,
I have just had a load of work done to my kombi and now want to get full comprehensive insurance.

I called the insurance mob and they said the “market value” for a 1975 bay is around $1500 and that the only way I could insure it for more would be as a “classic” vehicle – which would be fine except that it has all these constraints about the milage you can do per year, where it’s housed etc etc so this won’t work for me.

Does anyone here have full comprehensive insurance for their VW (or other “classics”) without these crazy constraints?

Any ideas?

cheers
Megan

Who was quote from??

I noted shannons seems to be a name that is bantied around alot.

it was RACV (since that's who it's currently insured with)

mum suggested I try an insurance broker

id give shannons a ring mate they do mine and have agreed value to about $6000 then they need to see the car.

yeah megan, give shannons a call. as long as its garaged etc it should be sweet. they'll be able to talk to you about a market value thats reasonable. as far as milage goes, its your choice whether you want to limit it. i've got a limit of 8000km as year but it's taken about a grand a year off the premium. good luck

Shannon's is the only one I know of but don't use their web site quote - call them and get someone to look adn value it - I'm going to do my Kombi with them also as long as the premium ain't at a premium :thumb
