#SOLD#NOS Brittax Rag Top F/S *UPDATE* fits squareback

Ok so it's up for sale again. One catch though; I don't think it will fit a beetle. There are plenty of people disagreeing with me though so I could be wrong. To me it looks like it would be perfect for a notch as the slope doesn't seem to match the beetle roof.

I'm after what I paid: $600 plus postage

The pics don't do this kit justice, I'll see if I can produce some better ones. I've never seen a fully polished Britax anywhere else.

Please u2u or email. I'm hopeless with phones.

VWFOOL ·

anyway to garauntee it would fit in a beetle?
is this why it keeps changing hands so much? im about to b in a position to buy this, but would need to know for sure.

robnjo ·

one way to check, would be to grab the under/inside frame and put it in a bug thats got no head-linning to see if it sit flush or close to it.
is there a bug at a junk yard near you that you could tear the head liner out to see?
Damn I havn't seen many notches with a rag...sounds trick

baby_beetle ·

yay its for sale. can i be top of the list i need one asap ASAP lol. if no one ells is b4 me i will buy it right now

ruckus ·

I've pulled my headliner out in anticipation a few months ago. Bug Boy came over and had a look and that's how the verdict was arrived at.

akean1 ·

bummer, i was waiting for a pic of it on elmo to show up in members rides

VWFOOL ·

im out
thanks anyway

plnorris ·

How many threads are there for this item? I replied to what I thought was the current thread and sent a U2U yesterday - but no response, only to find this thread today. I'm out.

ruckus ·

Chill mate. There was some info I wanted to get out in the open first. If you still want it then great. But don't start a whinge session on a for sale thread please.

empi ·

rob is it flat or curved(polished runners?)
Ad

ruckus ·

Slightly curved and polished. I'll bring it around tonight if you want and you can have a look?

baby_beetle ·

lol sorry im out bought a goldie

twoguns ·

jsut curious... would this curved/able to fit a dcab splitta? how could we find that out ( with out me buying it first)?

Bizarre ·

baby_beetle wrote:lol sorry im out bought a goldie
wow...where did you manage to find that???

Congrats.... good score

ruckus ·

Yeah that's what I was thinking!

tg: do you know anyone down here with a twin cab? That was the other thing that BugBoy and I thought it might fit. The curve at the front of the frame isn't agressive enough for a beetle but would be very close to a t3 or t2 I think

baby_beetle ·

cheers i got it today i put wanted add in paper and some one phoned me up got the complete kit

not personally. i know of twincabs done there. but not hwere actually. not an easy solution, hey. i will see what i can uncover.

Bizarre ·

2gs

could you get a straight edge and measure the bow from the edge to the roof top and do the reverse with the Britax???

ruckus ·

I'll give it a go over the weekend and see what we come up with

ruckus ·

Ok so finally measured it.

The rag opening is about 800mm square.
The side is almost flat with a 7mm curve (up to apex and then away).
The ends (front and back) have a more agressive curve but still nothing like a beetle about 20mm (again to apex and then away.

Both Empi and BUGBOY have had a look at this now and both agree that it would be closest fit for either a Kombi or a square. Empi's notch curved too much at the sides for it.

shaginwagin ·

So would it be cool bananas to put into a Square ?

I'd be most interested if it does

Cheese

ruckus ·

According to Empi and BUG BOY that's the verdict, although I haven't got one lying around to test it on :thumb

robnjo ·

....hate to think it may even be for an MG 😠

empi ·

Hi rob bring rag into workshop have a square back (mine too) u can try on.

ruckus ·

Just heard that it will fit a square.

stephanianjames has first dibs.

Che Castro ·

Hey sorry ruckus and you other guys. I was told by volksfolks it would fit a bug, I had a quick look and I thought it would probably fit too. The reason I sold it was because it looked a bit too 70's for an early bug (black plastic handles and smoked plastic cover). Anyway apologies for wasting your time.

ruckus ·

Hey Jon no stress, my headliner looks better out of the car anyway :thumb

stephenianjames ·

I'm gonna get this for my square.

Thanks mate!

ruckus ·

And we're out!

Someone's going to have a VERY tasty square!

robnjo ·

love to see some pics when it in...and maybe dump the perspecs cover.
