Thinking of entering it in Daily Driver, see how I go. I havent entered it in a show before as I didnt build it as a show car and its far from perfect, but its mine and I use it rain or shine.

Also I am being a bit hypocritical here as I dont really agree with shows as I dont agree with how they are judged.
In England we had a show called Bug freeze, when you entered your vehicle in that show you got a piece of paper and you judged the other cars so you put your top 3 on it.
That way only the people entering were the judges.
I think that is a good idea.
What I have seen at other shows is they get a few members of the club that is organising the show and a couple of dealers or repair place owners.
Now if I owned a repair place and I had been working on a vehicle for years I would vote for that vehicle to make sure I still got the work.
Also the members would proberbly vote for other members cars.I find a lot of clubs are a bit clickey.
I am not saying this happens at all shows, it just has the chance of happening.
There are a couple of cars here in Adelaide that the owner bought and sent them straight to a prestige repair place and spent $30k on each and then enters every show.
Thats not really a problem as I might do the same if I had the money, what is the problem is the owner doesnt use the cars and the only time you see them is at the shows.
I also dont like people judging my work who have never restored a vehicle themselves.
Told you I was being hypocritical.
Anyway I am entering it as I cant wait to have a good day out.

maybe there needs to be two more catagories...
best owner restoration
best daily driver
that is if there not in there already
that should cover u dave, as well as others like dasdubber.
it would mean then those who have spent so much of their own time get recognition for it, and ur only competeing against others like urself.
and also, it means that those who are driving their daily, liek urself, arent up against the trailer queens (no offence meant to them) who are keep under cover.
I think dailies should have a cat, because without them, there is no onroad in ya face advertising....it is only cause ur out and about that common ppl still know what a vw is.
where would we be without the dailies and punch buggy games..
just me

ps:
let us know how u go

Just came from the show, and Dave's bus looked superb. Didn't hang around for the judging but.... so Dave will have to fill you all in.

I saw that Kombi today at the show. Very nice! I wish I had a nice kombi like that to show off. But I don't and I really felt like the odd one out at the show. I need to keep saving I guess!

I must agree with you Dave , the quality of judging that I have personally experienced at some VW shows in NSW is just CRAP!!! I have attended many car shows over the past 12 months and the cabrio has been judged by many different judges at different types of events such as , FAST FOURS JAMBOREE SYDNEY , SUPERNATS , S.C.H.O.C CHARITY CAR SHOW , VW SHOOTOUT , DOVW VICTORIA , DOVW CANBERRA AND SUMMERNATS . The only time there has been a question mark regarding quality of judging was at VW nationals and Valla , where on both occasions the vehicles were judged by vw club members or people of the vw industry . On both occasions I was up against and beaten by cars were not up to the standard of those I had beaten at other events , and this was very obvious to me . After the VW NATIONALS I had a copy of my judging sheet sent to me so that I could see where I could improve , but comments like oil vapour on engine tinware and wheels not polished properly and centre caps missing ( for christ's sake , the bloody car was trailered to the event and some clown is claiming that there was oil on the engine . see the pics for youself on www.clubvw.org.au ) it was just too obvious !! I have suggested to a few clubs that judges should be brought in from an outside source such as the STREET MACHINE ASSOCIATION or from a non VW type club and get people who know little about these awsome little cars to judge them on there own merits .:repuke

nice work dave looks ace, i entered my type3 in the hobart show, i got runner up in the type3/karman ghia catt, tell me how is a type3 suppose to compete against a ghia, admitidly the ghia was wery nice but fancy putting them in the same catt, anyway good luck, sure to impress, driven not hidden, i like that!

O.K.
I admit I did win.
I got best type 2 to 1978.
Strange class really as it includes bays as well as splits.
This was my first and last show I will be entering, because if I do I cant slag off shows anymore.
There was some nice cars there but its a shame when the only time you do see some of the cars is at the shows.
I was suprised as there were 3 other splits there today, biggest gathering in S.A. ever??
Met a load of peolpe who are restoring splits at the moment so its looking good for the future.
