How much does it cost to get my bug lowered?

I went into the VW and Volvo specialised and they said around $600 without seeing the car. Can I get it lowered a little big cheaper elsewhere? And what about getting all of the suspension changed?

Thanks!!

Jo

Dropping the rear is pretty easy, however the front requires a little more work...you can use drop spindles which are expensive but a relatively easy option or you could put in beam adjusters which is a fair amount of work to install and then there are insurance issues.
Hence the expence....

600 is a fairly good price for alround drop...lucky you havn't got a sBug馃檨$$

foxy_fuchsia 路

Why whats wrong with the sbugs?

robnjo 路

sBug has the front has Mc phersonStruts and to do it right is about 700 just for the fronts, the back if I get someone will cost me 350.

Jo's Beetle has turned out to be a 1968 Beetle and doesn't have the superbugs McPherson struts etc...
It has the Torsion Bar front suspension....

The rears can be done fairly easily, if You find someone who has done them before...
I have heard of people changing the rears every few weekends.... doesn't take long when You know what You are doing.... and You do have to know what You are doing...
otherwise its change and test change & test... etc...

Ok sounds good...I think I am going to have to book it in to see mick motors after it has been painted and they can look at lowering it, leave it to the experts hehe

also try leons motors on the south side and custom offraod on teh northside.

foxy try this:

get price for things to be done, ask for break up on part /labour. Ask if u supply part, will they install for cheaper.

then check around to see if u can't source part cheaper.

classic vw (pacific) is good source. but micks is good as wll as leons at coopers plains (I love chatting with collen there..good source for info). Other names thrown out are alderwald at sumners...(did I spell that right)

Also, join a club. there is one in brissy at wollongabba. not sure if it is too far out for u. meets once a month i think. good source for info and stuff.

oh, don't forget to buy urself some manuals. start with the idiots guide. always good.

anyone got some more info for her.

bugeyedbabe 路

oh...and for teh record, no-one is giving me a kick back or discount for the plugs....these are just the ppl i found were helpful.

If ur buying second hand, or need something unusual, try crazy george (on this forum) as well.
