Partners family is in townsville.

This is expected to hit somewhere between tonsville and thursday island. those in Townsville aren't too happy, but not panicking yet, because of natural buffer (islands) BUT it is currently catagory 5, travelling 6 knots/hour. And it developed in last 48 hours.

To give u idea of devastation it may cause, cyclone Tracy, which hit Darwin back in the 70s was a catagory 4.

Also, the slower they travel the worst they it is, as it can take out that much more. Think difference between ur wife shopping for 30 minutes, compared to 3 hours...(how partner describes it to my family)

So our prayers are with the north, and hope it dies at sea.

Nothing to panick about....just a BIG mother of a storm. We need the rain anyway. Have been through about 7 of these in my life so far and the worst thing is the NOISE these things generate,especially when they come during the night. Having said that i slept through the last one....oops. Woke up with a tree impailed through the house!!!:cussing

their never really sure, but predictions this morning were for thrusday down to townsville, but now it looks like it's changing course and coming straigh back into the coast.

hopefully all townsville will get is the tail end.

not so sure who is going to get it higher up the coast

major turbulance...

parter had to fly fromtownsville when one sat off the coast...the winds blew so hard the plane landed 40minutes early...

but no-one could eat or drink on the flight

Well we got bugger all wind from that thing(not like the islands above Darwin!) been pissing rain since I got home thursday arvo, we got 16inches of rain in 24 hrs on sat and been raining ever since! I hope I can get back to work wednesday night (NOT!) so mick you got any new pics of the manx???
