Last night Herbie Met Jesse the 57 Chev, He doesnt seem too happy about giving up his driveway spot for him but so far he has not tried to smash him up like he did that Maserati that Jim Douglas brought home.

I hope thats because Herbie knows that the Chev is his new Friend Not his replacement. :kiss

thats a pretty unusual line-up to see on the front lawn, a beetle, a 57 and an Austin Freeway! you sure have a wide taste in vehicles.

The red and white car is very rare here in Australia, I believe there were only ever 6 brought here from england. There were some sold new in New Zealand. this was a personal import.
It a 1971 model MG 1300 MK2, It has wood grain trim and the full Cooper,S Mini style engine, has always been a wolf in Sheeps clothing.
We used to have a real hot 1275 motor in it, 1310, 12.5:1 Compression Big Valves, dual Valve springs and a nice chunky cam, Sounds awesome when its running. we got sick of buying AVGAS to run it and eventually it spat a small chunk out between two cylinders and I stuck a stock block and another Head back in the mix, but left all the valve train as it was, still has the cam and dual valve springs etc, it will still out perform a ford Laser Sports in a straight line, and although untested it would probably chew one up through the bends too as it has Hydrolastic suspension, so there is no body roll.
My Father bought it back when I was 7, I am now 35, He owned it till I was 16, when I got my hands on it and fixed it up again after it had lost its motor, then again I turned 18 {I got sick of fixing it and so I gave it back to him} and now My Brother is busy Fixing a new motor to keep it going for another few years. I am very attached to this car for sentimental reasons, thats why when it needed restoring, I replaced the whole floor, front and back and in the back of the boot too, it was a bit of a mess, if it were not such a rarity it would have been scraped for being too far gone.
It all good now though,
and is my fathers favourite mistress.

I actually found one the excact same model but in Green in a museum in England

You will laugh,
I cleared a space for the chev and he fitted niceley beside Freddy the Panel van, but I just couldnt shut the garage door because the chev was about a foot too long.

tehehe. my uncle is bringing home a 57 soon, but i dont think he will have any trouble fitting it. has just sold a Torana with an ex-bathurst race engine in it (only V8 i have seen which is good at 6000+revs) and a '57wagon resto project and is importing an imaculate piliarless belair from the states. he has a shed built from the remains of an aircraft hanger to store it in. should be a hoot, is LHD same as yours.
